Default 05 Nav Door only opens halfway then shuts down

Took it to the dealer, guess the motor is toast, WTF, I have had the car 5 months and 1800 miles. I'm bummed cause I drove 25 miles for them to tell me they have to order the part, then have to drive another 25 miles to come back. I asked the earlier over the phone, but they said I have to bring it in so they can look at it.

End of rant!

Sorry for the stupid question, but here goes, "Your Nav door is motorized?"

If so that would be an awsome upgrade to my base 2005 (I'm putting an LCD touch screen in there)... if not it gives me the idea to do the mod myself.

Yes, all 04.5 and newer have motorized Nav Doors.

same thing happened to me...my door was going crazy and it took four trips to the dealer to fix.
1. Get it checked
2. They ordered the part and installed it, but it didnt work at all. So they put my bad one in til they ordered another.
3. They installed a new one and it just stayed open all the time.
4. Finally got it right and havent had a problem since (about 4 months)

My dealer is about 20 miles away. Hopefully you wont go through the hardships i did

Well I take the wife to work since the Maxima is in the body shop getting the hail dents out, and low and behold I go to show her how the Nav door will not open all the way, and GUESS what, it works.

I am not sure what to do. I really don't want the dealer to mess with it if it is working. They always tend to mess something up or scratch something.

Then on top of that they want the damn car all day, horseshit, why should I leave the car all day for a 2 hour job. Like the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it,

Yep I fear that will happen. When I showed the wife and sounded as if it was cought on somthing while trying to open, not sure though. They say the part will be here on Wednesday, and I am off all this week so I might just get it repaired if it happens again. What to do, what to do!

Well got to the dealer 30 minutes ahead of my appt time, figuring I would wait at least 30 minutes to get my car into the bay was not the case. The Master Nissan Tech was very courteous and started working on it right away.

They replaced the door and motor. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the work and professionalism of the Nissan folks. A first for me.

And the bets part is they finished it in 30 minutes and I was able to avoid a bad thunderstorm, Kudos to Nissan service!
