Help a guy out please ses code 32 o2 sensor problem.
Hello all you technical/motor gurus... I having a problem here hope you guys can advise.
2003 Z with 70,000 miles
The car has been flashing a code of 0032 heated o2 sensor error.
I've reset the ecu.... by holding down the accelerator for 10 seconds after it is in diagnostics mode. now the car won't turn over. I've reset twice. Checked the fuse for engine control and checked the harness connector by the throttle body, but the Z still won't turn over. I haven't had a chance to look under the car at the actual o2 sensor yet..
any advice on what I can do or look for..
I know I can take it to service but I would prefer not to $$$

am I the only one with this problem.....
turns out pedal reset won't work once the DTC trip memory has been set... the car was in some sort of fail safe mode that wouldn't let the car restart... after leaving the battery disconeccted for 24 hours the memory has been reset...
the car finally restarted but is running rich...
The car is all stock except a grounding kit and K&n Drop in. Anyone have any idea why it is running rich and causing the o2 sensor 1 to read high voltage (rich).... or am I just posting to myself???
come on guys I know someone must have an idea

yeah its most likely the o2 sensor but I'm wondering what caused the failure.... harness, connectors and fuses are fine.... o2 is a b!tch to reach to I guess I'll have to take it in...
anyone have any ideas why the car would run rich and cause the error. Voltage tests on the o2 return fine.

It could just be the heater on the sensor. I dont think it is totally abnormal for one of these to go bad @ 70K.
I dont think your car is running as rich as you think. There are two sensors in each bank. You would see both with the problem if it were a true issue. Remember it uses a feedback system, so one bad part can cause any number of symptoms.

update incase anyone was wondering or if this happens to someone in the future.
Well, it turns out that leaving the battery unplugged for 16 hours isn't enough to clear the DTC memory. I had to leave the car unplugged, again for 24 hours, after words the car started up with a belch of gas.
Remarkably the car now runs fine, no ses light yet... The only thing I did was change the spark plugs, I did not change the o2 sensor. The old plugs were fairly new with good points. The car now runs smoother and idles lower and still no ses light. Hopefully I'm not jynxing myself, but all seems well with the car. I'm still wondering why the Z wouldn't start.

ok how do you do a pedal reset.
I thought it was go into diag mode: wait 3 sec, pump accel 5 times, wait 7 then hold down for 10... wait for codes then hold down for 10 again
that sounds right, as long as you followed technosquare's method. If you need the specific ones let me know, I have them somewhere.
Technosquare's method didnt do anything for my SES. I just had to let it go away on it's own, like that rash I used to have
