Default Navigation door problem...

Hi guys, been lurking around the site for quite some times but this is officially my 1st post Anyways, I've search around the site, but cant find what causes my Navigation door on my 05Z to keep opening. What i mean is whenever i shut it down the car or the navigation door, it pops open after 1 or 2 second. Kind of annoying, as if you can never shut the nav door. I see few members here who got similar problem of the door wont move at all. Any input will be appreciated.

Mine did that for awhile...when you turn the car off and when its opening up again you can press the button and it will close. However this also causes the door to stay down and stuck down when you turn the car on again...i had a bunch of problems with mine and just brought it in to the dealer. Got a new motor for the door.

I don't think the door has any electical motors, isn't it just spring loaded with gears? So having the car on or off shouldn't make a difference. Just take it to the dealer, they will check it out. I had mine replaced because it was rattling.

Mine wouldn't open on my 05. They replaced the entire door and motor!

I have an 03 and the door would not fully open by itself. They replaced out the door and everything works fine.

Badmonkey_1. The 03 and possibly the 04 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) don't have motors built into the Nav Door. The 05+ have the motorized doors.

I have an early '04 Touring with the nav system. It has the electric door. Neat feature; if you leave the door open, it closes when you shut off the car and opens again when you turn on the car. I (being who I am) like this feature, so I leave it open and let it open and close at least twice a day. I bought my Z in Sept '03. I'm bringing the car in to have the nav door replaced again on Monday (8/15/05). This will be the THIRD time the door has broken and had to be replaced (it makes a really horrible grinding sound and won't open or close when it breaks). Yep, 2 years, four nav doors (Hmm... Does that qualify for Lemon Law?). Anyone else experience this? I've heard that the G35s have an electric door over the nav system as well. Anyone know if it is the same door? So long as it's under warranty I'll just let them keep replacing the door. If it happens enough, they'll change the design. Just closing that feedback loop.

I have an 03 without a motor but I think the SPRING is broken becuase it doesn't open when I press the button. This should be covered by my warranty??

LIdrew. I had the same problem where the nav door would get stuck half way up. It's covered under warranty.

i have a 03 touring and my problem with my navagation door is that it opens by itself with every bump or little dip i go over, i always go slow on dips and it still opens , its not motorized, does anybody else have this problem? do they sell the nav door by itself? its either the door or the part at the other end where the door latches on too.

This is a really old thread that has nothing to do with the issue you're having

Instead you should have checked with Courtesyparts.com and looked at this section:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z-pa...5_824_834.html

You would have seen the part# 68520M and by clicking on the part # you would have been taken to the page that shows the cluster by itself
