Angry ABS + TCS + SLIP lights on

my 05 Z with 12k miles...

it started doing this yesterday, i was driving then ABS, TCS(Off) and SLIP all came on at the same time . if i shut off the car and restart it again, it will turn off... sometimes it will light up again, not sure under what condition, but i get this at least 2-3 times a day.

it could happen when i'm driving, or right after I pull out from my garage.

the car drives just fine... no loss of power.

i noticed the brakes were acting funny, sometimes when i'm about to come to a stop, the front brakes will make some kind of noise, pedals shake, sounds like the ABS is doing something.

tires are fine...

anyone got this before?

GO TO DEALER. I usually hear about the TCS OFF and SLIP light coming on due to low brake fluid or worn brake pads.

they won't know about your ECU flash, the rest I doubt they'll really be able to say could cause your ABS etc to have problems

Check out the thread above, sounds like the same situation I'm having along with some others. Issues started in the '03 models and was recalled on the Crank Position Sensor. This seems to be the root of the problem. Hope this helps you out!

it might be your VDC/ABS/SLIP computer dying soon... my VDC/ABS/SLIP computer fried while installing a kill switch for the traction control (due to faulty rocker switch).. both VDC and the SLIP lights came up, but no ABS though.... the computer is located right under the steering colume and it shouldn't be too hard for nissan to test that out!

Best of luck!!!

ps. even your reflash would never cause this type of problem because they are different computers if the actual VDC/ABS/SLIP unit is dying!

cheers,

richie

Sounds like you are in "ABS fail safe mode"...been there done that...not fun...escp going into turn one at Daytona on the road course. Check all the wheel speed sensors and make sure no wires are pinched. The ECU isnt liking something its seeing from either the ABS modulde, a wheel speed sensor, or something in between on the CAN system.

i had the exact same problem -- it was a faulty right rear ABS sensor... replaced under warranty in an hour.

thanks for the replies guys... i'll put the stock suspension back on, that's probably the only thing the dealer can blame me on.

the front brakes are acting funny, if i brake hard about to come to a stop, the pedal shakes bad and i could hear the abs module making some noises. it's scary..

i'm bringing the car back to the dealer soon... sigh.

Did you check your brake fluid level? If it's near the Min mark, then the sensor will set off all three lights.

Took the car back to dealer last week, they diagnosed the car and found out front left wheel speed sensor(abs sensor) was malfunctioning. but they didn't have the part instock, they ordered it, brought the car back in again monday. replaced sensor now the abs module needs to be replaced too. hmm.

just fyi.

good thing its all covered by warranty.

I've had the same problem for about a year I posted here
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....94#post2245194

Hopefully someone can give me some input or advice as to what I should do, since my warranty is almost up I don't feel that extending the warranty will do me any good.

Apologies for waking an old thread but I have this issue on my 2006 GT with just above 13k miles on the meter.

Lamps lit up just before I took it for my 3yr service and according to the shop it was my ABS-sensor in the front(left side) that was failing. First quote was around 1000 usd for replacement unit and labour(I live in Europe so prices may be very different compared to US). My jaw dropped as it was 3 years and 17 days(3 year warranty) and I wasn't really interested in paying that ammount.

After a few weeks the shop called me back and said they have a new sensor and will replace it at no cost. I'm a happy puppy when I pick my car up and not so happy when the lights come back on 2 days later.... Back to the shop and they have it for 2 days running diagnostics and god knows what. The shop said that they had removed the control box under the steering column and when reattached the problem was gone. When I drive home, guess what. The ABS, ESP and Slip lights shine up, at this point I'm not such a happy puppy.

I have the same where my break pedal gets into a pumping action on low speeds while I use the breaks, also the (what I suspect) ABS-pump is making some noices.

Anyone with thoughts or ideas?

Just thought I'd post and update on my problem.

Dealership had the car for another couple of days and according to them it was the wheel bearing that was faulty. They replaced the bearing and wheel hub at no cost and after that I've been driving for about 150-200 miles and no problems at all with the lights coming on.
