Default Is this my MAF going bad??

My car is about 6,000 miles out of warranty so I am trying to resolve this problem myself. I own a 2003 Performance and have recently been experiencing the following problems:

Car died twice two nights ago after coming to a complete stop. It started right back up and ran perfectly (Automatic). Hasn't died since...

Since dying, the car has gone into limp mode every time I drive. This takes place anywhere from 20-60 minutes after driving. If I shut off and turn back on, it runs fine until it decides to convert to limp mode once again...

No SES lights have been thrown and the car runs fine. Is there anyway to conclude or exclude the MAF as the problem before I run out and buy a new one? Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help!

As a last resort before sending it off to service trying pulling out the maf sensor and spray it with carb/choke cleaner and let the solvent evaporate. See if it changes any.

Great idea! I'll give it a shot.
