Default Silver Steering Wheel Trim Peeling...

I have and '03 Z, VIN 4,xxx. It has 33,000 miles on it now. An d I have the most annoying little problem.

The clear coat on the left silver trim panel on my steering wheel has started to peel away. I guess I am always resting my hand in the exact same spot. Now it looks a yellowish brown in that spot.

I told my dealer about it while the car was in for routine maintainence. My service manager looked at it and said it is considered regualr "wear and tear". How can this be? After only 30,000 miles driven maybe 8 months a year?

I call BS? What do you think?

unfortunately I have the same thing on my 03 left side. I went at it with a clay bar and it helped clean up the peeling... I'm thinking of sanding it with a high grit sandpaper, but I'm a bit apprehensive to start sanding away.

Ya, and their solution is to replace the entire Steering at a cost of 800.00.
