ZMAX: What's the story?
My cousin gave me the ZMAX additive package for X-mas.
My neighbor (a mechanic/hot rodder) swears by this stuff. However, after surfing the web, I found out that the Federal Trade Commission is sueing the makers of ZMAX due to alleged false claims in their ad campaign. The FTC claims that based on their tests, ZMAX is actually nothing more than tinted mineral oil that actually causes more harm than benefits. I'm unable to find detailed results of these FTC tests so I'm not sure what to believe at this point.
Does anyone have any experience(s) with this product?
At this juncture, I have not poured any of this stuff into my Z33. I need to know exactly what it is before I decide...
Thanks...

ZMAX is one of the major oil additives on the market (not unlike Prolong and Slick 50 but a bit more expensive...) and yes, Shelby does endorse it... They're always running infomercials on cable (usually after prime time). It's available at places like Pep Boys and Track Auto. I'm wondering if it's worthy of our Z's or if I should "re-gift" it (I haven't opened it).
I was just wondering if anyone's actually used it before. It's supposed to make your engine last longer and improve gas mileage.
Thanks and Happy New Year!!

Used it in a Ford F150 once and could tell no difference in it at all - cold starts, normal driving, etc... I've seen the 'Infomercials' and I, personally, don't think it made any noticable change - either good or bad to the vehicles performance. If you're using a good motor oil and changing it at a decent rate, this stuff isn't going to do anything more. I learned long ago, oil additives are produced for us to spend additional money on and RARELY do good things for an engine.... At least that's my two-cents

Just say no!
Just ask this same question on www.TwinTurbo.net and see what kind of response/answer you will get.
It stands to reason that if the FTC is investigating, something could be up.
