I'm getting ready to do my first oil change on my new Z. I already did my research on all the synthetics and filters out there. Looks like I'm gonna go with Mobile 1 with either Mobile or K&N filter (whichever happens to be in stock). So i was just wondering what combo you guys use and how many miles do you go per change for city driving.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Look in the maintenance manual for how many miles between oil changes. I do a lot of freeway driving and the maintenance manual says I don't have to change my oil as much (it gives actual numbers).

I've been going to the same Jiffy Lube for years and years, never had a single problem. Quaker State 5W30 every 3000 miles. I choose not to change my own oil because a) I don't feel like doing it myself, b) it doesn't really cost much more to have someone else do it, c) they're better equipped and have earned my trust over the years, and d) I really don't feel like doing it myself.
Now that I've had several vehicles and probably close to 400,000 miles under my belt, I've never had any oil-related problems. I think the perceived difference between brands and synthetic vs. regular is largely a product of marketing, and your car should be okay as long as you change it somewhat regularly. Even though I get my oil changed a little bit early on the mileage, I imagine that anything more than ordinary 5W30 every 3750 miles as Nissan recommends is probably unnecessary. It's just a habit I'm used to, and it's nice to have the tires/brake fluid/coolant checked, floormats vacuumed, windshield cleaned, etc a little more often.

Jiffy Lube forgot to fill my buddy's BMW back up with oil... it took him 6 months before his lawyer finally got them to cough up the money. Not that it's just Jiffy Lube, the Quaker State place I took my Z to some how tore out my oil pressure sensor... they couldn't figure out what happened and insisted that is just happened to fail at the same time as my oil change but before they came to that brilliant conclusion, they managed to spray oil all over my engine compartment by testing my system for oil pressure… the twist the oil filter while engine is running routine. As far as being equipped at a local lube place, sure they are... but most of them really don't give a s**t.

I have only had one oil change once so for but I figured for warranty reason and the fact that Nissan really is not that much more expensive I figured I would change mine about every 3500 miles and let Nissan put the oil and filter in. I am sort of like the otrher guy in here, If I change my mind I will probably still buy the Nissan filter and take it to my corner oil change place and use Penzoil 10w30.

I only have 5k miles on my 05 and will switch to Mobil 1 next oil change. Havent desided on filter yet but leaning towards M1. Regular changes normally at 5k unless Nissan requires changes at 3750 miles.

In the past I have used the OEM Nissan oil Filter and Castrol synth. and changed every 3000 miles. I just switched to Wix Oil filter instead of Nissan. Did not noticed any difference, anybody out there used the Wix filter?. Comments welcome...
