Default Reverse Grind

What up Jim's

I have an 03, and had the Tranny replaced last spring, so I assume its the newer version. And now since about fall, going into reverse when you first start it, or most of the time, randomly, it grinds. I had my Tilton installed and it still does the same thing. It kinda feels like it's going out. Is this common? I dont know, I dont wanna bring it to the dealer because it wont show up then or they'll blame the clutch. Mainly wondering if it common with the newer tranny's.

Enzo Driver, I have the EXACT same thing happen on my tranny. It only does that on first starts after parked overnight. It just feels like it would jump out of the gear when you try to put to Reverse.
All other gears feels normal, although it's notchy to shift.

I can put mine in reverse while rolling and it's never made any grinding... it won't go in if it's rolling too much. I've got 34k on mine.

Are you saying it's a truth for our cars or just your experience? With clutch in or out?
Mine only grinds once in a while when tranny is cold with clutch in.

I really don't think grinding should ever be the norm... I've had my Z for almost 3 years and it's never once made a grinding noise in any gear or temperature. I've driven it in the snow... sort of... but the tranny never felt any different than when it was warm. I really feel like you guys should have that checked out and if one dealership can't help you then try another. I had to go to several dealers to get them to fix my rear axle clicking issue, which started a while before Nissan issued the fixit kit; even then it took three stays at the third dealership. It could be a simple linkage alignment or something... better safe than sorry.

This is probably an old thread, but I've had the same problem with my car. I just got the 03 from a Torrance dealership and in the mornings, when the car hasn't been running in over 6 hours, the reverse gear grinds. What the hell is wrong with the car? It really bothers me, because my old piece of junk mustang NEVER grinded any gears, and this 30,000 dollar car does. Anyone know the problem? I was thinking maybe transmission fluids or gear fluids or some kind of grease to aid the transmission is low, or cold. I don't know. Please help.

Default Same thing

Same problem here, I get a weird pop the first time I go into second gear when starting it up in the morning. I never used to have the problem down in Florida but now that I am up north it happens EVERY morning.
