Default Tranny question....

When im racing or just punchin on it a little bit, regardless if i granny shift/speedshift/powershift, 5th gear ALWAYS grinds, its not a major grind, but one that almost makes u cring everytime at least. Its a weak grind but still allows me to go into gear, so now when i race or punch on it, i basically slow shift 5th to avoid the grind, but im nervous to take it into shop cause i just got UR pulley installed (was doing grind before that) but i garuntee they will say something about it...

Anyone tell me if the tranny is a lemon or if something is just wrong with synchros/gear itself

This is an 04.5 btw

the pulley has no affect on how the tranny shifts...i had grinds from 1-2-3 and they replaced it with all my mods...the dealer might give you **** at first but they have to prove how a crank pulley affects the syncros in your trans...if i remember correctly the syncros were causing problems cause they were brass

Bring it in, have them test drive it. Almost all dealers will be willing to replace it. I recently had my 05 tranny get replaced. It took about a week for the tranny to get here, and 2 days for them to replace it.

if i go about doing that should i take out the UR pulley? cause right now its making a nice LOUD clicking sound and im in the process of figuring out wtf is wrong but i know nissan wont help me.... but if i take it in for them to test drive the tranny they would hear the clicking and check that as well as realize UR pulley... then be like hey we are *******s and are not gonna do anything for you white trash!

lucklly I had a competent Z mechanic test drive it and he was mod friendly, I cat say what your mechanic will be like. I think people worry a lot about warrenty issues when they dont have to though. I think you'll be fine

my tranny is grinding when ever i speed shift to 3rd gear or from 4th to 3rd but if i shift normaly fast its fine. i got 52k on it and my warrenty ran out. i'm wondering if its only going to get worse and how much does it cost to fix out of my pocket.? oh it only grinds when i slam it into gear as if it needed just 1/2 of a second more befor entering 3rd.

I just got mine replaced on Tuesday after fighting the dealership for a year about this issue. Mine loves to grind in 3rd and 5th every morning, then it started to get worst and grinds even after the engine has warmed up.

I would even go to 5th and grind, shift to 6th, and go back and forth. 5th would grind everytime I did that then it started to diminish... then return.

The new tranny is nice. Shifts feel a little shorter, less effort (prior, the faster I shift, the harder and more stress it puts on my wrist)
