Default Instructions on changing oil

Any member here have instructions on changing oil or tips/tricks to do it properly? I will do it next week and wanted some insight. Thanks. I suspect it is a bit different than my Honda.

It's real easy if you have a socket-type filter wrench and ramps made from 2 2x4's stacked/nailed w/ the ends cut at 45*.

1- drive the 350 on the ramps
2- unbolt & remove plastic shield from under the front of the car (~10 10mm bolts & 1 plastic clip)

After that, filter and drain plug access should be real easy if your arms are long enough.

Michael.

Even with a good filter wrench, you should at least be prepared to have to punch a hole through the filter. The first filter is practically impossible to remove.

Only do that as a last resort. I once had a filter twist off the shell and leave the "nut" and base part of the filter on the car. That was fun to remove

FYI, for the plastic clip, use a standard screwdriver or similar to pop up the center pin. This wasn't immediatly obvious to me when I was removing the piece. for subsequen oil changes, you can probably replace the filter through the hole, but I seriously doubt you can get the factory one off without taking the shield off.

Guess you could always let the dealer do the first one. Maybe the second one would be easier.........
