Default Drivers side window stuck down.

I go to wash my car this morning and when i hit the button for the window to go up-nothing. Notta. Just a clicking noise every time i hit the button to go up or down. You can hear a clicking noise like its trying to raise the window but thats it. Any ideas? Thanks in advvance.

punch and hit the side of the door from inside the drivers seat around the area just above the window switch finisher (where the window regulator sits) while you are holding up on the switch, and it will work...you know how our Z's are...****ty window regulators and all hah

the thing is, a LOT of people took their Z's to the dealer to get a warranty fix and replacement of the regulator, the thing though, was that the problem would keep coming back even after a new regulator....to be honest, the regulator is flawed from day one, Nissan has never released a new model regulator, so we just keep replacing it with another time-bomb reg thats just gonna keep breaking...sad really...

Freakin hilarious!! I did just as you said and went out and hit the door while pressing the button and presto!! Window went right back up. Thanks for the tip.

Who would have thought that i'd have to hit my door to get the window up in a $35,000 car? I still love my Z but man this thing has some quirks sometimes!

Not sure what year the OP's Z is, but BOTH of my window regulators and motors failed around the same time. Luckily, I was till under warranty and they got replaced.

use a pencil or ruler to pry the window out. place the ruler against the window in the door and push it out while pulling on the window switch.

i had this happen too many times on my 350z. usually if you can manipulate the window around in the track while trying to raise the window it will go up.

Mine got really bad on my G, depending on if I wanted to open or close the window I had to hold the switch either up or down; open, then close the door hard while holding the switch.

oh and even if they replace the regulator it will likely come back. i had them replace the regulator 2x and it still did it.

+1. It does work, but will eventually fail completely. Leave the window in the up position until you fix it...

A more civilized approach, well it doesn't feel like abuse to the car, is to hold the window switch up as you close the door. You don't have to slam it, but close it with some assurance. It's the same effect and worked for me several times before my window motors were replaced on my '03.

O.K. Cool that the Ghetto method works (and it saved my a*s a number of times) I did watch a few good YouTube videos on how to remove the inside door panel to access the motor BUT I also saw one guy that replaced the passenger side window motor and discovered he only needed to replace the window switch in the passenger door. This allowed the passenger window to function and be activated normally on the driver side switch.
Question: How do I determine if my window stuck in the down scenario is the Switch or the Motor ?

There is this woman that frequents the bar I work at work at. She is like 70 and drives a 2004 6-speed. Window was stuck down. Held the switch up and banged the **** out the door panel and sure enough it inched backed up.
