transmission whinning
My car is at the dealership again for tranny problems. i had a transmission, throw out bearing and the flywheel replaced in november of last year because of grinding and that annoying rattling noise, and ever since i had the new parts in, my car is making a whinning noise when i let of the gas in first second and third gear (when you let go of the gas and the rpm drop close to idle). right after i got the new transmission in i went to the dealer and told him about the noise but he said that it's normal and that it will eventually go away. well a few months later it's still there and i finally took it back in and also told him about the pedal kinda sticking to the floor sometimes. Today i just got a phone call from him saying that he tried bleeding the master cylinder but was unsuccesful and decided to order a new one.
my questions are as follows: what can cause the whinning noise (i've driven manual cars before and the noise is similar to the sound of going in reverse really fast and letting of the gas), also what does the master cylinder really do and how would that cause the problems mentioned above and finally is the master cylinder different from the slave cylinder and if yes then what does it do

my replacement tranny whines aswell. first gear is very loud and when i push in the clutch as high rpms it lets out a loud whine.
ive got about 4K miles on on the new tranny and while it hasnt gone away its a little better (or maybe ive just gottnen used to it)
im not sure what causes it but i think maybe the gears are more straighter cut in the new tranny's. my dealer said it was called unwound gear backlash but i swear they made that term up
i cant answer your cylinder related questions because im not real familiar with that aspect of the car. but you might want to try a different tranny fluid
