Why is your breakin period so long?
My Z28 had a breakin of 500 miles... and then after that it was open season.. Just wondering why the breakin period on your cars is so rediculous? Of course if your engines act anything like our V8s after about 15,000 miles the car will get a lil' bit faster and some extra power.... However from what I am reading you guys have to baby your cars forever.. whats the deal?
My guess would be the warranty. The Chevy is only covered for 36000 miles, while the Nissan is covered for 60000. Chevy isn't going to care if your engine is burning oil at 50000 miles, Nissan will be buying you a new engine. Maybe the longer break in provides that much more assurance that the engine will last. By the way, the Nissan break in is only 1200 miles. That's about a month of driving for most people. What's the big deal? It's your car; you can do what you want with it anyway.

That's really not that long once you think about how many miles these motors can handle.
