Default Tire Feathering on 05 or 06?

I am wanting to a buy a 350Z and am scared of the tire feathering/road noise problem.

If you have a 05 or 06 350Z, can you reply:
1) Your mileage
2) Is there any road noise/tire feathering?

Thanks,
Jeff

Do you have the faintest idea about the relationship between performance alignment and tire wear? How about reading up on the subject so you can be a more knowledgeable shopper.

I have looked at this subject in detail, and its alignment "sensitivity" scared me away from buying an 03. No one wants to invest in a car that loses its waranty on this. I am wondering about the 06 to see if they fixed the problem so I can have the car without replacing the tires every 7k. Its good to see two people with 22k on their 05 with no problem.

Please, if you own an 05 or 06 tell if you have had any road noise problems.

I have 33,000 on my '05 Base. I drive it year round, daily as it is my only car. Factory front tires would have nearly 20,000 miles on them and look perfect. My front snow tires have a very slight pattern on the inside row of tread but I don't know if it is considered feathering. I've always described what I am seeing as a "sawtooth" pattern. And I did not know it was there until I felt them this spring when I took them off. Not really visible enough to be convincing until you drag your fingers along the tread. You've got to keep in mind how soft snow tires are. I would not worry about buying a '05/'06 for one second personally and I did consider not buying because of the early problems and so much run around on causes and fixes, etc. I'm so glad I just stopped worrying and bought the thing!
I saw an article the other day on Nissannews that tried to explain that early problems arose from aggressive alignment settings and tread block design on the Bridgestones and that problems have pretty much gone away. Of course coming straight from Nissan you would have to take it as just a PR article but
I would recommend just getting the car and enjoying it. Keep in mind other sports cars have tire wear issues and the Z's "seem" to not be plaqued by this anymore.

'05 Enthusiast with 18k on it. No tire problems, and I haven't rotated them once.

i have about 10k on my car. first 2k was with the factory tires and last 8k with my T1Rs. Don't have a problem with the TIRs. i do have a problem with my factory tires, as they seem to be biased on the inside thread making the tire contact area at a slope. You can't even stand up the tire by itself as it will just fall face down on flat surface. i think it's nissan's way and the tire manufacturers way of dealing with uneven tire wear and settings.

If you visit the autocross or road racing forums, racers will tune as much as negative 3 degrees of front camber: great for racing but hell on the tires on the street.
