Fuel pump noise or diff noise at 240km on the clock...?????
First of all, I never take it over 3500rpm at all.... change gears with clutch fully depressed all the time and the car has only 240km on the clock!
While I was enjoying driving my car today (3rd day), I noticed there is a noise from the rear chassis even when the car isn't in gear! It sounds like.... "zeeee... seeee...." and goes constantly... I tried to restart the car, but didn't go away! I only noticed it today because I had my stereo on all the time for the past 2 days while I was driving and didn't pay attention to what's going on in the car really... just concentrating driving on the street to avoid any possible accident!
What kind of noise is that? Fuel Pump noise??? is it normal? please help!
cheers,
richie

To see if the sound you are hearing is the fuel pump, turn the key to the "on" position without actually starting the car. You should hear the fuel pump pressurizing the system for a few seconds. If this is the sound you heard during your drive then everything is ok. My current car's fuel pump is extremely loud and its worked fine for 40K+ miles. Some cars just have noisy fuel pumps.
On a side note, its always a good idea to turn your key to the "on" position for a few seconds before you start your car so that the fuel system has time to get fully pressurized.
