Default Minor Squeek coming from rear wheels.

Yes, I hear a squeak coming from rear wheels when I take off Windows have to be down, stereo has to be low, & outside noise has to be minimal, but I hear it. I have taken my car to the shop about 4 times, they have changed the brake hardware, changed the wheels twice, & the other time my car sat there almost 2 weeks with nothing done it. All the excuses that the service department gave me was, the Nissan Tech was gonna call us today, they have to tell us what to do with this problem. They never called. I was also told that there was another Z there(Redline) with that same problem.

Next, I am told that there were quite a few Zs with this problem, so mine wasn't isolated.

Next, I was told that this problem should eventually go away, I really don't think that this is a good answer for me to hear that I should just continue to drive a new car with a squeak that is audible from the outside, & even sometimes audible from the inside.

I have a 6MT Touring model, I notice it when I release the clutch in first & even in reverse.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Or maybe even you should listen more closely.

I think I have the same problem. It's like a loud squeak when I let go of clutch shifting in any gear. I usually need to listen very closely to hear it or be outside of the car. But it sounds like it may be from only my passenger rear side. Do you think it's because of switching your rims/tires? Possibly an alignment issue? I'm going to put my stocks on and see what happends. I haven't let dealership look at it yet. If you find a fix, let us know.

I have a PPW Enthusiast AUTO, I have a squeek also. Mine is definitly coming from the Driver side rear wheel fender/bumper. If I gently press in this area (green circle), I hear an audible squeek. I though it was my suspension as well, but it is definitly the fender/bumper panel.
I am taking mine to Nissan tomorrow to see if they can fix it while it is in for its 1st oil change.
I will keep you posted.
Let me know if anyone else has a similar body panel squeek.
Thanks!

Default That sounds like the same problem.

They told me to leave my aftermarket wheels on there, because I even put my stocks on & it made the same noises. They even told me that it is a problem with more than a few other Zs.. I took mine to Torrance Nissan . Yours isn't the red one is it?

I would call 1800-Nissan1 and let them know about the problem.

Keep me posted..

I have the same noise and thought it was the rear suspension loading. Mine sounds like a crinkling piece of cellophane on takeoff. As long as it's just the bodywork squeeking and has nothing to do with the suspension, I'll let it be.

I have a Lemans Sunset. I'm bringing it to Long Beach Nissan on Tuesday. Hopefully they can figure it out.

Mine does the squeek noise same spot as DURSO's, I'm sure its the plastic rubbing where it meets metal body.

long beach nissan couldn't figure out what that problem was. they thought it was my brakes squeaking but they were wrong. they said they are going to call nissan tech line but I doubt they will. im going to get to the bottom of this. that sound is annoying.

I have a noise that sounds like a cricket, I don't know if that's what everyone elses sounds like. It's coming somewhere from the back.

I thought it was the strut bar so I took it apart and put pieces of carpet padding where the metal and the plastic meet, but I still get the same noise!!! It's REALLY annoying. I'm now thinking it could be the suspension on the drivers side back tire. I guess I have to get someone to ride in the trunk and do some investigating.

Default My wheel squeek was fixed...

here is the original post.

What i thought was a whine noise turned out to be the wheels.

Might be outdated but worth a try.

I had the same problem and fixed it myself. Take your hand and push in on the lower portion of your mud flap/rear bumper this should reveal the squeek. There is a bracket i believe up underneith and all i did was give the bracket a little bend and the squeek was gone. You have to lay underneath and just keep pushing till you isolate were the sound is coming from exactly, once you locate it you'll see what i mean by a little bend. Hope this helps you out.

I think it is the rear wheels, I'm gonna try it. One day I was coming out of my car and on my way out I heard the little cricket noise on the rear left tires as I beared down on the car to get out (Mind you I am not heavy, I only weigh about 106)

Default Butterfly, we might need to hookup.

We might need to have a So Cali Sqeak Off. See who's rear end can squeak the loudest.

long beach nissan was able to fix my squeak/creak! the tech couldn't pin point the problem but he tightened several of the suspension components. he did mention that the hub was a little loose too. hopefully it will not come back.

Default Good To Know.

Somebody told me that DR. Phil had a show on that his wife said that he had her riding in the trunk trying to figure out the squeak coming from the rear of his 350Z..

I will take mine back to Torrance to see if they can handle it, then I will go to Long Beach Nissan if they can't..

Thanks

Ugh. I have the cricket sound. Started about a week ago so I thought I'd do a search for "cricket." Sounds like a cricket but is probably styrofoam or plastic squeaking. It sounds like it's coming from the rear near the rear strut brace and I can't isolate it.

BF, did you find and fix the cricket cause it's driving me nutso.

It still goes off! I think it's the actual trunk door itself because sometimes when I open the trunk it'll squeak right after, or if I haven't opened the trunk (no noise) and after I open the trunk then shut it, it'll squeak. What's wierd is I can be standing outside the car, and shut the driver's side door and I can hear the cricket from outside. It's driving me crazy too! It's also a deciduous noise so I can't take the car in whenever so they can listen, I have to wait until the cricket start to go off.

P.S. I hope what I'm saying makes sense, I had very little sleep last night and I'm like sleep walking.

Default Well Mine is When I am driving.

I go to the shop on Tuesday, they better find out what it is then, this will be the 5th time that I have taken it to the shop for this. I don't feel like this car should sound like a Ford when you are driving it. You all will hate to hear this, but I had someone tell me that there was a show, Dr. Phil., & it was about annoying habits & pet peeves with your spouse. Well the habit that Dr.Phil's wife said was he wanted her to lay down on a towel in the garage while he backed his 350Z over her so she could se where the squeak was coming from. She wouldn't do it, but she got in the trunk instead & they rode around. I sent off for the tape. What do you think about that?

Let us know. I took mine in and their answer was "The two we pulled off the truck today did it so it is normal" I said listen it is bad enough that people look at me in a parking lot and ask what’s wrong with the car. It happens when you let the clutch out on start and on shifts. My guess is a drive line component. But he said just wait till it gets worse and/or breaks.

B.S.

My front suspension also pops but they said that’s normal too. I guess I will have to have it fixed at Crawford’s Z Service Shop and have them send the bill over to the Dealer.
