Okay, well they are replacing 38 nuts/bolts/cotter pins... Either way, they aren't replacing anything that critical IMO... Doesn't bother me. The exhaust drowns most of the clicking.

I know a Z owner in New Zealand who has the same problem and she suspects it to be the half shaft. I'm not sure what a half shaft is, but I think she's talking about the rear axel. She said when it is on the lift, the half shaft is loose, you have to tug at it pretty hard, but it should be tight and not movable. I also had my recal done on the fuel line, not sure what they did to fix it, but they did something wrong.
3 indepenent high performance shops have told me "unusual axial looseness" as per the workshop manuals, so yes is part of the axle assembly. My problem being Nissan here won't admit that there is a problem with the car.

Guess it depends on what dealership you take your car to. My dealership knew exactly what the problem was and fixed it in exactly an hour under warranty so I didn't have to pay a dime.

I'm over in New Zealand, and have had 3 private assessments at Nissan NZ's(HQ) suggestion, all telling me the same thing, but Nissan won't admit the problem. Complicated, over a 3 month long drama.

i have the clicking noise as well. Will the dealer repair the clicking noise even with aftermarket suspension? I might take it to the dealership next week.

Why not. What does the suspension have to do with the rear axle?

AZNNBLK: Go to Capitol Nissan, they actually take care of their customers unlike other dealership. Had the same problem, they knew right away what it was and was fixed with a little grease under warranty. They did say however that the clicking might come back so the axel needs to be greased when you service your car.

Default axle click TSB did the trick for me

Some folks in the Nor Cal forum have said some really bad things about Capitol Nissan. I've only dealt w/them a few times and they've been ok to me.

I too had a sorta external rattle/crunch when shifting into reverse and then when the car was cold (sitting for awhile, even outside in the sun) when accelerating (forward), I'd hear a sorta external squeak/rattle.

I took it to Falore Nissan, he tried to repro it in front of me. They claimed the reverse rattle was normal but then he said that I need the axle click TSB done (SO THAT'S the click they're talking about. I'd heard people here talking about but didn't feel my noises were axle clicks). He couldn't repro the rattle/click when accelerating while I was standing there (not surprising, I had to drive 20+ miles to the dealer).

Anyhow, it seems like the TSB did the trick and fixed both noises. Yay!

Huge thanks to Fly & DavidV for emails of the invoices you sent me for the work Nissan did on your axles.

Each invoice has a different comment that has been extremely helpful as we're going throught the technical data and workshop manual.

Does and this a big ask anyone else have a copy of their invoice for axle work done on your 350?? If so please send me a pm.

The more comments on the invoice the better, especially if it has been a more servere case of axle clicking or axle damage full stop!!! Just gives me more ammo to hit Nissan NZ with.

Thanks heaps!!!

I know, back from the dead. I just started getting the "click" and saw some great posts, but I have two questions. I know it is simple, but I am not getting what "TSB" is?

also..

Where can I print this bulletin (Service bulletin NTB04-065b)to have incase they give me any issues at the dealer? I already registered at Nissanhelp.com. The link posted just takes me to the main page and I am having issues finding that bulletin.

Thanks in advance guys.

A TSB is a set of instructions to the dealer tech explaining how to solve a particular problem. That an all other are on the Nissanhelp site, you just have to do a little digging to find them.

I finally found it. Thanks Dave. What does TSB stand for? I'm thinking tech service board or something?

It's the rear axle. Just had this problem a month ago. $100 to get it fixed. You don't even need to take the TSB in there. It's a pretty common problem.
