Default No Wheel Lock key

I bought my Z not too long ago and never checked if the wheel lock key was in the car. I was about to take the wheel off the other day to change my brake pads and noticed my lock key was missing..I was going to call the guy who sold me the car, But I could'nt find his number.. I called the dealer and they said they can't do anything for me..So, I was looking online and didn't find anything there ethier..I'm stuck. I need to change my pads and I can't take the damn wheel off...What should I do? go? try another dealer? Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to try another local dealer for that.

They are made by McGard. Without the registration card with the magic code number on it, you're screwed as far as getting a key.

You can get a 6pt socket, I believe 3/4", and hammer it onto the lock and air-wrench it loose. Any decent wheel shop can do it for you as well as the dealer.

Wheel lock key? I am confused. I just removed my wheels and didn't need one. I know no car has locking lug nuts from factory, so it can't be that. What is it?

I used to work at a wheel shop while in high school, they hade made up a socket just for this application

Take a 12 pt socket ( 6pt may work just as well, never tried) that just barely doesnt fit over the lug nut.

Take a dremel with the long skinny sanding tool ( sorta like the chainsaw blade sharpener )and smooth off the "points" Smooth them out more at the mouth, then less inside the socket to give it a slope inward.

works the same way as banging on any socket, this one just seemed to work out great when customers came in with the same problem.

i was in the same situation. the dealership should have a MASTER SET. i got mine matched up through the dealership. then i called mcgard to order it. i believe they (the lug keys) are named with colors. "red" "grey" etc.

the dealership wanted 15. mcgard direct... 10bucks. lol. you do not need to break it off. it's easy as talkin to the service manager. ask them to see a master set.
