Default engine problem...

im having an issue with the car and dont have a consult II here with me to do a scan. what is happening is right at 5200 rpm to 5500 rpm im loosing power .... before 5k and after 6k its fine. it doesnt backfire or anything but just feels like the engine shuts off... (make any sense?)

anyone got an idea what could be going on?

I'm which i think is the same problem like you do. For some reason my car has been sluggish lately and like what you said around 5k it's like it stops climbing the power band. (if that makes sense) Hey man let me know if you find out anything and I'll do the same.

I don't think so because I've had the pop for a couple of years now and I'm just now experiencing this. I recently cleaned it also and re-checked all the fittings.

no utec... and i have been using this popcharger for years and cleaning it every 3 months

Random points as they come to mind:

1) Knock and ECU is taken a lot of timing!!!!
2) Try to do the wiggle test and see that all engine connectors are hooked correctly
3) Grounding issue, perhaps
4) Do you hear any knock just before it happens
5) Check the fuel pump and fuel pressure
6) Does the car idle well?

broken wire at the throttle body... repared.... see if that solves the problem on the way home tonight
