Exclamation Tire Icon?

OK... Umm, just the other day right under my gas gauge, a light came on with an exclamation point inside what seems to be a tire [there's tread on the bottom of the little icon]. I did a walk around on my car and all my tires look fine and are inflated properly. Any ideas or should I just take it to the dealer?

It's the low tire pressure warning. Did you cycle through the multi-function display to check the tire pressure readings? To be on the safe side, get a tire pressure gauge and make sure that all have about 35 psi (cold).

You might want to read through your owners manual, there are a bunch of other rather important warning lights that can come on while you're on the road. It's a good idea to be familiar with them.

If you go below 28psi, ur underinflated and it "looks" normaly from the eye. You should be 35PSI cold or around 40psi hot. You can tell by looking at the TPMS on the computer.

My tire pressure readings haven't shown anything since day one. Is it supposed to? I have a 2006 Base model. I don't know why but all it displays is "-------" for all. I think I'll just take it to the dealer since I need them to fix the passenger side seatbelt because it won't click in without having to work it for a while or hitting it. :/ Thanks for the input.

Have you swapped out the OEM wheels for aftermarket ones?

All 2006 Zs are supposed to have TPMS so yours should be registering something besides "----". Definitely have the dealer check it.

Bump from the dead.

My light is now on after having a flat today. I changed to the spare, took it to NTB and had it patched, and it's still on. This car has 2000 miles on it and all tires are at the right levels of inflation.

Also, anyone know why the '08 doesn't have the TPS gauge like my '05 did? This is Touring coupe btw.

well, does the spare have a sensor? I didn't think it does. If it doesn't, then it would make sense that your light would come on.

To the original poster...I don't remember of the 06 base came with TPMS, but use a regular gauge to measure them like another member said.

if your tpms is showing "-----" then you do not have the tpms valves installed (or they are not programmed correctly). they usually remove them when they throw new tires on used Zs... dont ask why. i got my z used and i also did not have the tpms gauges installed, it is something you have to do through the dealer, as the dealer is the only place where you can have these programmed. the tire icon will come on after about ~200 miles if it is not detecting a signal from the sensors though, and there is nothing you can do about it other than turning your car on and off. let me know if you go through with it, i have not even asked how much it would cost, though i would like to know.
