1st gear tranny noise around 4k rpms Please Help!
Has anyone had this problem or know what it is? I noticed today that when in 1st gear I reach 4000 RPMs, my transmission (or so I think) is making a rattling noise.
If I need to have tranny work done, will I still be covered under warranty if I've only got 40,000 miles? Thanks
Sven (hoping it's nothing too serious)

Noisy transmissions are pretty common in the Z so it's hard to say if you have a real problem or not. Since the drivetrain warranty is to 60,000 miles, bring it to the dealer and have them check it.

I've got an 04 G and my tranny was unusually loud in 1st gear too. It also grinded going into 3rd and 5th. I took it to Infiniti and they replaced it under warrenty. They had my car for 2 weeks but they gave me a loaner.
