WARNING! Damage to rims removing wheels

I heard back from them today & they basically said "tough luck" in the nicest possible way. It was almost funny, she said yes, there is a colored coating on there that might flake off, but it's not "paint" like there is on a car body and as such there is not a touch-up paint.
I said "OK, it's a colored coating that flakes off but it's not paint? It looks like paint it acts like paint, it quacks like paint but it's not paint?"
I escalated and expect to hear from her manager tomorrow. The more people that demand this, the more chance there will be that it will be made available to us.

They are crazy!!
There are MANY wheels that are painted. I would try the pep-boys on glenwood and look at the touch up paints they have (large amount). You might find a similar color.
I dont know if this has been suggested, but I would wax your wheels if I were you. This will protect the wheels and also make them MUCH easier to clean. Now is the best time since they are still new. I wax my wheels everytime I rotate the tires (10k).
Good luck!

Perhaps the wheels are powder coated afterall, and that's why there is no touch up paint. Powder coat will scratch and flake like any other paint. It all depends on the thickness and type of application.
I will be changing my rear brake pads soon, so I appreciate the heads up on the wheels.
I've found that over time, brake dust will accumulate in the holes and hide all the scratches. Perhaps that will be a good method for you. Doesn't solve the problem, but it makes for a good excuse.
Good luck in finding something and hope it all works out.
Oh, I just had another idea; you could buy an extra set of rims and use the stock track rims for racing tires. Then, since they'd be taken on and off the car all the time, you wouldn't have to worry about a couple little scratches.
Again, good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I have thought about getting a touchup elsewhere but I would rather get the exact match from the manufacturer. And I don't wax, I Zaino, and I do Zaino my wheels every time I Zaino the car.

i just got the new griots catalog, they have some silver wheel paint. i was thinking you can mask off around the lug holes and the inside edges of the holes. then just spray down the inside of the lug holes. since they are recessed into the wheel, it wouldn't be very noticeable and wouldn't have to match perfectly.
just a thought.

You guys are forgetting that the lugholes have very sloped edges; the insides of the lugholes are very visible. I need a good match between the inside of the lughole and the outside rim.
You guys should get this...
http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog....2090&SKU=77145
These are plastic covered sockets so that they don't damage your wheel. My friend has them and they work great.
The link I pasted are for the three piece metric set, but they also have a five piece standard set.
I HIGHLY recommend these if you want to protect your wheels.
..or...you guys can just wrap some duct tape around your sockets
.

Integrate - thanks for the link. I might have to order those or improvise with my sockets.
