Well, no, you don't need a new engine, but you do need to get it out before re-assembling and starting it. Not sure how you'd go about doing it, though; I suspect if it were easy to fish out, you'd have done it already. It may involve a tow to a shop, alot of disassembly and a very big bill.

harbour tools might have a tool that you can buy to fish it out. The tool is flexible with a retractable claws at the end. Good luck.

it might sound stupid, but you can try using a vacuum source to suck it up, just make sure that you wont drop anything more in...

just put the engine back together and start it, after about 1k miles it will burn up and everything will be fine

disclaimer: im not responsible for when your engine blows up

Your going to have to remove the lower plenum minimum and maybe the heads if the valve was in the opened position when you dropped it in. Just remember which intake runner it fell into.

Yeah..... big bill.

lol I was scared you were going to go have your engine rebuilt.

I was going to suggest the same thing, a long and sticky object...

Cant you just use one of those plumbing type tools with the grabber on the end and a bright light?
