Default TSB info for "Tire road noise when braking"

Got a copy from my dealer. They have ordered new front tires for me, at no cost to me. It's upto youe dealer to decide if you 'deserve' new tires or not.
Here is the info, as it appears on the TSB. Hope this helps.

TSB: 2003 350Z: Tire Road noise when braking
Classification: WT03-001
Reference: NTB03-006
Date: Jan 23, 2003

Applied VINS: Vehicles built before: JN1AZ34E93T004958
JN1AZ34D63T104023

Applied Date: Vehicles built before Sept 19, 2002

If you confirm:
An applied vehicle shows the following symptoms when braking moderately:
- excessive tire "roar" or "growl" noise
- mostly when braking at speeds below 30 mph

Actions:
- Verify the incident noise as described above
- Check alignment. Adjust(if needed)
- Rotate front tires from side to side (dismounting tires from wheels)

Service procedure:
1. Verify noise as described above
2. Check the vehicles front end alignment and adjust toe-in, if needed
3. Once toe-in has been checked and adjusted (if necessary), rotate tires.

The above mentioned problem addressed in the TSB is also referred to as tire cupping/feathering.

Sorry...I keep forgetting things...
My dealer ordered the tires for me a couple of months back, but when they came in they realized that they had ordered the rear tires instead of the front. DOH

Anyway, they have ordered the correct tires this time, and have rotated the tires from side to side, which has helped significantly with the "growl".

They also told me that there were only 10 of these tires available in the entire north america, and they have ordered 8. If you live in jacksonville and have the symptoms, contact John Norton at 880-3000 (Coggin Nissan @ Avenues)

Exclamation

This seems to be the first formal acknowledgement by Nissan about the tire feathering issue which has been one of the big topics on the forum. With the VIN #'s specified, should this be posted at the top of the forum for a while? It seems pretty important.

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner. I can mail it to one of you guys and you can put it up. Or just give the TSB# to your dealer and get a copy from them. PM me if you want me to mail it to you.

your dealer knows about this TSB. When I took my car last week to have it checked, the service advisor alrady knew about the TSB. All they need to do is look it up...

Unhappy

I have the exact symptoms as the TSB but my vin is 9966.
I guess I am gonna have to pay for service then fight it out with NNA.

Maybe, for once, the dealer will save me the trouble and file it for me. ? ..? !

Probably not.

The dealers/nissan is being "fuzzy" about this problem. At first, the dealer had told me that there was a peoblem with the manufacturing process of the tires which were put on that vin range. But then the TSB say to check the alignment......That doesn't compute.....it's a conspiracy I'm sure. j/k
And now I'm having rust spots show up in the rear hatch jamb. Jesus...what's next ?

Rust!?!? Yikes Any clue as to why yet? Can you post a picture of the spots? This a truely scary development. Is the French side of your car showing? I hope not for you, me or all of us.

What did Nissan change on Sept 19, 2002? What is the difference between vehicles built before and after Sept 19, 2002 - could that be the answer to the problem? Could someone please enlighten me"

They most likely found an alignment problem, whether it be the specs or just sloppy assembly line work. Doesn't seem to be a part defect.

How do you determine your build date?
