Default Suspension 'softening'

Happy to report that the harshness and bounce of the suspension has faded considerably. AT 1,175 miles I noticed this on the stretch of 88 near Aurora that we in Chicago know is really wavy and sets up the hood thumping bounce that I've been complaining about and logged to Nissan. I drove out that way and was amazed a couple days ago that it was much better. Not perfect but much better. Another poster had mentioned this too and I wanted to let everyone know.

Sad to report that at 3,000 miles the bouncy, choppy ride on my SB Touring Automatic Z hasn't improved one bit. Opened claim with Nissan and intend to pursue it.

Also, I've heard recently that there may be a problem with Nissan shills posting on these boards to try and downplay the problems with the Z. So please beware!

I thought it was somewhat better but northbound on I-294 it was just as bad as usual. Going 85-90 seemed to help, but I shouldn't have to drive at a high rate of speed to smooth out the suspension.

My car has around 475 miles on it.

My car has 1100 miles and nothing has changed as far as the bounce/choppy ride on certain roads. I find it interesting that on the threads with the new Eibach installs the Eibach springs are progressive just like the NISMO suspension kit springs. Both these products seem to fix the ride problem. The stock springs are not progressive..........I attend to pursue the matter with Nissan. I have already called and have a #. Here is the Eibach thread. https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=22456

Don't get me wrong. It still sucks. Just less. I just got back from a 35 mile drive down 88 and 294 and still choppy, still lights up and down and no one elses are but it has lost some of the edge. I'm not peeing blood anymore after the trip. Still have a file open with Nissan and will pursue. Still plan on spring or shock change down the road. Still need grounding kit and smoked windows. Still liking the car.

I too called this past Monday March 31st and spoke to a Christen at Nissan and reported my extreme displeasure with the ride quality. She claims that Nissan does not have any "recalls" or documented evidence about any problem with ride quality. Her only advice at this juncture is to take it back to the dealer service and no doubt waste my time being told that "that is the way a sports car handles" BS. If so many people are finding this a major problem (as I am) then we should have a more concerted way of identifying ourselves and letting Nissan address this in a more responsive and agressive way. I think they rely on piecemeal approach as the best way to ignore non-life threatening auto defects.

I would tend to agree the ride is a little to bouncy/choppy on mainly concerte or small irregularities or significantly uneven roads. Seems like at least those shouldnt be so jarring.

But it is turn to a degree the ride qualitity isnt as bad as it initally was I have nearly 3K as well and strechs of road where it made me want to pull over are actually tolerable indeed. Still would like to see what lies ahead from Nissan but I ll probably get a suspension upgrade sooner than later.Just my $0.02.

Default Suspension Nightmare-stock to stance to kw=Same problem

I have a 04 Z roadster, drove about 4.5 years.

After one year owning the car in 05. Put on Tanabe springs to lowered my Z.
Car was good for a year and then the ride got soft and bouncy.

People tell me my shocks are gone due to aftermarket springs. Sure no problem.

Throwing in 1.2K for Stance GR+. Rides like a dream for 2 month and ride got worse after that each day.

Couldnt stand the bouncy ride and noisy springs, bodyshop told me stance is a low grade coilover, and I slammed my ride so shocks failed on me.

Fine, should have gone the right way and bought a qualify coilover.

Did tons of research, found that KW V2 got nothing but good reviews and with progressive springs the ride is smooth plane and no owner seem to have any issues with them.

Another 1.6 K down the drain.

Wow...amazing ride, corners nice immediately after i put them on. Loved it!

guess what?
2 month past by...holy sh*t!!! same thing over again.
bouncy, noisy springs, harshness came right back....its been 3 month now. Suffering from this everyday as a daily driver.

Nissan checked out the car said everything oem is fine, nothing loose. And they all blame it on the aftermarket suspension. I did realize that sometimes the ride will improve a little bit all the sudden for a while. Tech told me that usually means that the suspension has soemthing wrong. Is that true, how come both coilover have the same issue? KW suppose to have a lifetime warrenty and very well built? I dont think the ride will trash in 2 months.

both stance and KW use stock spring mount...so the shocks and springs are separated in the rear.

Sorry for long post but can someone help me? I dont know what to do anymore, I dont want to waste money on another set of coil and ride nice for 2 months and have to suffer from this kind of ride again. thanks

Interesting. I think you are talking about the "hoppy" ride on certain jointed concrete interstates. I have felt this in other vehicles, too - short wheelbase pickups, etc. It's just the length between joints and the concrete wear combined with the wheelbase length and suspension response of the car.
