Hi DTD,

I have the *exact* tire combo on my 18's (actually purchased through your local distributor here.)

I have an open line of Credit with America's Tires aka Discount Tires. 90 days same as cash.

If that car owner would post some of the answers to the questions being asked I would be highly interested.

I had Eiback and SLP on my FireHawk
pic

but I too want to know about ride quality and handling.

Also price.

I bought my rims through you too!

Arrange it so I can buy the Eibacks via Adam at America's Tires in Sacramento (they get their products from you) on my credit account and have the user post a review of the ride handling and not only will I buy them, install them and post underside pics and reviews but I will link to your site and send you a box of candy!

"I'll make you famous!"

I think he'll be posting his impressions after a few days of driving.

The stores can get them for you...but doubt they can go $220 out the door. I set up a 350Z group buy for that price.

If your credit is the car care one card...you can use that here.

Still have that hawk?? Ive got a 00 SS thats been supersized to a LS6.

Default My CC

My credit card from DTD says "Car Care One" in the lower bottom right and America's on the top left and DTD on the top right.

Can I get these with the group buy on this card?
Where is the link to that?

That would be sweet!

The Hawk was ran into the ground twice a week with twin 125HP NOS Jets then sold back to the dealer of the car club I am in (TACA) 12.1 with a 1.59 60' @114mph on Nitto 315 DR's
all bought from you of course.

Hook me up, I'm your number one customer!!

Yeah I missed your call too.

220 shipped right?

Is this the kit?

Just the springs and if so will it be ok on my car pics already posted and more importantly will effect the other suspension items like shocks, sways etc and make the handling worse?
My FireHawk had massive sways and better shocks too IIRC.

I need to know before I place my order tomorow.

MaxHax,

Ride quality is enhanced. Noticably less chop and feels more connected to the road. I have a notorious section of road that causes her to "porpoise" (bounce) to the point of looking for other ways to get to my destination. (I-17 from T-Bird to Bell). Yesterday I ran the gauntlet and found it was way less then before. I would say it decreased 75%. WooHoo, no more embarrassment! Keep in mind, I went from a 17" to an 18" wheel, then I went from 235/50 (rear) to 275/40 tires and then went to the Eibachs, all practically the same day and so I am having a little trouble determining which addition did what.
Not yet sure on the understeer/oversteer yet, but plan on nailing that down with a serious run on Saturday.
I very much like the enhanced ride quality. Before, I would feel ruts and bumps, etc. as a sharp response in the steering wheel that was a bit uncomfortable to me. That is no longer an issue. I feel the bumps/ruts, but it is not nearly as sharp/jolting as before. It seems to have brought the shocks more into play and as a result the transition from smooth to rutted is much more linear.
Ride height? Overall, hot, it has dropped 9/16" at the front wheel well top, 1/2" at the door handle and 1/2" top of rear wheel well. Practically speaking, the modifications have removed the slight forward rake and dropped the lower rail nearly even w/the pavement and gives the car an overall more streamlined appearance to my mind. I like this change. Spec drop on the Eibach Prokit is .8 front and 1.2 rear so we still have a little settling to do. Cold is a bigger drop (settled/tire contraction?) and I will measure that again tomorrow. They will settle a bit over the next week, I'm sure. The look is hard for me to define. After all when you tell people that the wheelbase is the same as the Vette, they can't believe it because the bodywork disguises that comparison very well. The same with the ride height. It is visible, but I can't entirely put my finger on it. I guess because it is a subtle drop and that is much preferred by me than a slam ya' in the face drop. Oh, BTW, I have almost 16,000 miles on the odo.
More to follow. Regards, Jim

Thanks for the feedback Jim,

I went from 17 to 18's with the exact same tire sizes front and rear (same make and model too ) that you did. I'll call Todd again tomorow.

The Eibachs are progressive springs. I am wondering if our stock ones are not. When the stock springs were replaced were they progressive too. Maybe that is the problem...............

Default Progressive

You can clearly see the progressive rate winding on the Eibach's. The rate on the stock (bottom spring) spring is a bit more convoluted and wider. In any event, looking at the wide turns in the stock spring make me say "ahhhh, now I see why I get the porpoising". For me, the Eibachs are to be much prefferred, both for the drop and certainly for the ride. Regards, Jim

Default Thanks Todd,

Mine are on the way and pics review will follow!

Todd,

We did business before I remember our email exchange now when I was the guinee pig for the tire rim combo.

I can't find that "customer's cars" link.

Can you help? I want to link to it and have the pic replaced with one of the ones in this thread (your choice) since the car was detailed.

I am looking for it here

DTD Home Page

Edit add, oh and thanks JimH too for the inspiration and details!

MaxHax, You're very welcome! I am very pleased all the way around with my setup, ride, appearance and cost. Now, if only I was getting a commission on these being sold! Jim
