Default Steering wheel noise

Does anybody have or has anyone had a creaking noise coming from the steering wheel while turnig it from side to side. It sounds a lot like when your hands are dry and they are rubbing on the lather of the wheel. But that's not what it is. It's coming from inside the steering wheel. Anybody have any ideas?

check power steering fluid and make sure its full (best to do this when the car is cold).

is it a whining sound? or more of a buffeting sound? (buffeting being the sound u make when ur hands are wet and slide across leather)

No, it's not the sound of a power steering pump. It's a barely noticable "buffeting" sound coming from inside the car and from the steering wheel.

I had a similar problem. I also thought it was near the steering wheel but it turned out it was at the bottom of the steering wheel column.

Put your head near the foot pedals and turn the wheel. Listen for the sound at the end of the steering wheel column where it goes thru the firewall. There is a rubber boot there. I had to put a bit of grease there to make it quiet.
