Last night i stopped for gas on the way home from work. when i left the gas station i noticed that i didn't seem to have any power. the car kept bogging down and did not seem to want to accelerate. idle sounds horrible, and when i decelerated to pull into a parking lot the motor died. it started back up but still sounds like crap. under light acceleration it seems to hesitate, possibly sputter, i'm not sure if that would be the most appropriate term for it.
Acceleration in 6th gear at 50-60mph is almost non-existantat WOT.

backround:
i jwt popcharger and an apexi exhaust
1200 miles ago i replaced the tranmission and upgraded the clutch and flywheel
62,000 miles
2003 base z
no cel lights of any sort

Possibilities:
bad gas (i noticed it less than a mile after i left the gas station)
clogged fuel injectors
needs new plugs

i have only had the car for about 14,000 miles.
Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated

 

+1 on bad gas ... I just had a simlar problem, but I don't think it's the gas (I've been on the same gas tank for more than 100 miles)

how long have the mods been on your car without problems?

my guess (other than the guesses stated) is dirty MAF sensor or you need to reset your ECU

Is the car in "limp mode" ? Any slip / VDC lights on the dash?

 

I would hate to think plugs/coilpacks?????? You sure somethings not misfiring ?
The Z uses Plat tipped plugs and go a LONG WAYS! check plugs 1st

 

thanks. i figure since i am going to take the time to take out the plugs i might as well replace them with aftermarket ones. what do you guys recomend and where is the best place to get them asap? i will be searching for this issue as well but you input is appreciated

I doubt that it's your plugs. Even a totally bad plug would still make your car run nearly normal.

 

+100 on bad gas....

 

+infinity+1 on bad gas. Take it to a garage, they can drain the tank and dispose of the bad gasoline.

 

Had you not just got gas I'd look elsewhere but it sounds like water in the fuel.

 

update: my car is running much better now, i think that it was just bad gas. i have filled up twice since then with93 octane and the car runnin just about normal

 

What did you use before?

 

92 octane but it was at a crapy gas statio in a little town i pass through on the way home from work. I think maybe it was just bad gas.
I always use premium.
