Default rear axle warranty/dealer

Hi, I just got through talking to my dealer about the rear axle problem, and they told me I would have to pay for it if I get it fixed because 1. my car is lowered (tein 0.5 inch drop) 2. because this is adjustment issue and the warranty covers only up to 12000 miles, and I have 19000 miles on it. Man freaking dealer is such a hassle. I looked through past threads about the axle problems, and it seemed as if people were getting it fixed w/o a problem and that this is very common problem.

Anybody with modified z had similar issues? If I was to leave the axle problem alone, would it cause big damage in the future? I hope this is not a repost.

My car is IN the dealer right now, and they told me since I have drove passed 60000 KM (I'm in Canada) they cannot fix it under even my extended warranty. Is he BS 'ing me or what? Initially he wanred me it may not be covered because I lowered my car.....

If you are talking the "half shaft" part of the axle, if not sorted asap it will only get worse unfortunately.

If I am past the warranty, will they still fix it for free since there is a TSB?

I am at 33,000 miles but my warranty ran out at 30,000. I called performance nissan and they want to charge me $144 just to look at it. If this is a TSB, shouldn't they already know how much that it will cost to repair it?

So led, do you think your Z has an axle problem? If so, to drop one half shaft out doesn't take that long, probably 30 mins approximately, depending on the mechanic of course to see what's going on. 2nd one is usually a bit harder to get out, murphy's law I guess. Look for signs of movement/wear/abrasions inside the axle housing, denoting incorrect mechanical behaviour.

I don't know much about axles but I sure do have the "clicking" symptoms. I really don't trust a mechanic with my Z. I mean, I used to take it for oil changes and they wouldn't even change the washers. I try to do the maintenance myself but I really don't know enough about axles.

What do you think? Could I trust a mechanic with this? It doesn't look too complicated but, at the same time, I don't want anyone screwing up my Z

I just don't want to have to pay the stealership to fix this. I KNOW that they'll try to charge me way more than I would really need to pay for it.

The drive train warranty is 60 months/60,000 miles. Last time I checked the rear axle is part of the drive train.

When it comes to axles, if don't know what you are doing you're best to take it to the dealership to be checked out.
