Default Differential fluid changed at 2000 miles...

Hey everyone, just wanted to throw out and FYI kinda post.

I had my oil changed at 1400 miles last Thursday 3/28.

Went back this week for a tranny flush and differntial fluid change on 4/3. I now have 2000 miles on her....I took a road trip over the weekend .

Anyway. The woman thought I was nuts, but hey I like to baby my cars. So they take the car and she comes back out about a hour later and says. "Hey, good thing you had us do the differential fluid." I said, "yea, did you find anything?" She said, "yea...the tech found debris and shavings on the magnet...good idea to come in."

So heads up!! You MIGHT want to flush your fluids early. I have always known it to be a good idea on new engines. Hey, thats why we have to break them in. I think I will be doing it again at about 3500 miles.

Just some info!

that's normal though in a new car. the magnetic drain plug is going to pick up all of that.

i did my 2nd oil at 6000 mi. and changed out my tranny/diff/brake fluids at 6500 mi (when i had my car up on a lift -makes it very easy )

just wondering what fluids you went with? i went with synchomesh in the tranny and mobil1 in the rear diff/engine oil.

Yup, figured as much.

As for fluids, I just stuck with what it came with from the factory for now. Since I am still only at 2000 miles. I have been reading that its good to do a change over to synthetics around 5000 miles. So that's about when I'll do it, just not sure what yet.

Changed the fluid with Redline in my 6MT and Diff. at 1200 mi.

What a difference it made. It cured the notchy shifting and it made the entire car run much more smoother.

Now at 3800 mi. just got it's second engine oil change with Mobil-1 5w30. Runs very smooth.

Hey zmadnez, what Redline did use? MTL or MT-90? or half and half of both? And also the gear oil?

I'm about to change mine soon and possibly use Redline for both tranny/diff

thanks

6MT has the 50/50 mix of MTL and MT-90.
Diff. has the 75W90.

At 5200 miles I changeed the engine, diff and brake fluids. Service manager said the diff fluid was very dark and they flushed it 3 times prior to putting in Mobil 1 I brought. I had no shavings. I would highly suggest people change the diff fluid early on.

Not sure to tell you the truth.

Nice info on the Redline fluid guys. That'll be for my next change.

yes it is easy to do, but it's sort of a pain in the ***, especially if you don't have access to a lift... it's worth the $20bux to pay somebody to do it for you.
