Default Recall.....

Had a letter in the post from the my local nissan dealer saying there is a recall on all 04 350Z's. Does not say why in the letter. RE 050 is the recall number.

Anyone else had a recall?

call your dealership and find out, then let us know what it is.

I received one as well, but because it was from the local dealership and mentioned it was a reminder, I assume it was for the gas filler hose recall that I do not want done to my car.

Just called....

Yep it is the gas hose which they say can crack prematurely due to ethanol in the fuel. How come you don't want it done to your car stealth?

They just quoted me $398 for basic 30k service and $499 for premium which then adds new wiper blades and rear diff fluid. does this sound expensive??

+1 , my CEL has been on for this but not having fueling issues yet. It's a big job from what I'm told, and theres not a dealer I trust with my car in my area. I understand the entire rear subframe unit has to come down.

I don't have any of the symptoms (gas smell, leak, etc...) and the job is very very involved. If you do a search for that recall on this site, you will see threads will all the step by step pictures of the work required. I don't trust most dealerships to not screw something up in putting the car back together.

they to strip the rear end of your car down. I had mine done and it took another hour under the car to stop the exhaust rattle the produced. The thing worked perfect for about a month and then back to the usual right under Full mark that i cant seem to get passed. Pain the ***, but not worth setting up another appt and going through the bs with the dealership. If your tank fills up to Full or even a little passed that your good. I've heard complaints about it not going above 3/4 of a tank which could be a problem.

Buyer Beware!!! They got me for new wiper blades and adding nitrogen in my tires on my 15k service just to hike up the final price Several members on the board told me I could've passed on both and either done them myself or gone somewhere cheaper

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will specify what I want them to do instead of asking for a 30K.

Default Recall

Any idea of whether this recall also applies to 03's?

The Recall no. is R0050 as opposed to RE050 which is what I originally put. I should have looked harder on my search as there is quite a bit about the fuel hose recall on this forum already.

This applies to 03's and 05's. Seems like some people have got it done and some haven't because of whats involved.

Had the recall done plus a 30K and brake fluid flush. Everything is normal so far and the car feels great.

I decided against it. Most dealerships can barely work on your mom's Maxima let alone the Z.

I had no choice...i took the car in for a window motor and they did it anyhow. I haven't noticed anything abnormal yet...i don't think. There is a crazy heat shield rattle or something in certain rpm ranges but that might have been there before. I'm not sure...but i do know that i hate taking my car in for work.
