I knew i had 2-3 coming from the right area of the dash board or rear visor (passenger side).
1. Put felt circles around the corners of the visor, between the mirror and plastic mirror cover. Be sure to build them up with multiple layers so it has enuf padding
2. Took the little round plastic cover (opposite of alarm light cover on drivers side) on passanger side out and put 2 layers of electrical tape about it (the area that contacts the dash) and around the wires that lead to it. it used to move around a bit, now it is SNUG.
3. put felt padding between the black plastic that covers up the wire to the rearview mirror between the rearview mirror and headliner.
4. tightened jack so it fits snug in the foam piece.
my rear rattle was still there so I just started moving things around in the back. Noticed the bolt that holds the spare tire was very loose.
5. Tightened the hand bolt on the spare tire (it sounded like it was the aluminum over the strut tower, since this piece does feel a bit loose, and the sound was metallic in origin, ended up being bolt against the body)
rear rattle-GONE
btw, the rear rattle returned 2 weeks later, I went and inspected it again, sure enuf it was loose again, I tightened it and it is good now.
here is a list of common rattles and some fixes people have done on this site. I did an extensive search before I fixed mine, I did NOT write this list it is from many members on this board, so don't give me credit and I am NOT trying to take any. I hope it is OK if I write this without permission of the original authors, if so, moderators feels free to delete this.
here it is.
1. I also had one where the rear view mirror plastic cover mounted into the ceiling. Got some felt pad circles and stuffed them behind the slip cover near the ceiling. All gone
2. One cold morning I had a rattle from the area you describe. I had my spouse (she just happened to be in the car) push down on the small plastic piece at the base of the right A-pillar. The rattle disappeared.
3. There are two connectors (one on each side) at the front of the dash, ROUND circles. One is the security light (alarm) and the other is a blank. I had a rattle there so I carefully lifted them out with a small screw driver. There are wires underneath that I wrapped with electrical tape around some felt. It seemed to work for me.
4. I've got a really loud one around my VDC switch
5. I don't know if anyone has heard a rattle in the rear hatch while driving slowly over concrete expansion joints. I took my car in today and the tech took my car out with the service manager and isolated the rattle. The rattle came from the vibration of rear window brake light . He was able to fix it by disassembling the light and placing some insulation between the metal window frame and the metal holder. If any of you should notice a metal rattle in the rear hold your hand on the light to see if it stops. Once isolated the fix only took about 15 minutes to repair.
6. Visor lid rattle-Someone posted that they were able to take apart the visor and put heat shrink tubing around the springs which stopped the sound, or put a piece of folded paper between lid and mirror. BUT here's the NEWS: Nissan will recall the passenger visor and will have a replacement soon....according to my Service Manager who works directly with Nissan Engineer down in San Francisco
7. Headliner against the windshield
8. Seatbelt (pass side)
9. Rear jack loose
10. Under aluminum part/Z of strut tower
11. Doors Passenger>driver
btw2, for those that think this car is a POS because of the few rattles, I tell you this, my mothers MB ML430 has waay more rattles and problems and it is a $50k car/SUV, my dad is on his 4th CLK (2-430s, 2-55s) and I can tell you that those cars had rattles too, the 1st CLK55 was VERY stiff and had a few, the 2nd one seems to have softer suspension and has less, although, it does have one. He picks up a SL500 next week, will be interesting to see how that one feels.
