I always hit rocks.. but they always just hit the wheel well and nothing happens. You are really unlucky and sorry to hear about it!
+1. The chance of a rock destroying a motor are one in a million. This is definitely an insurance claim.

Your insurance shouldn't go up, you're not at fault. In '05, I got cut off and had $13,000 worth of damage done to my Z. My insurance hasn't gone up a penny. A couple years ago, my mother got in to a car accident and was at fault. Her insurance went up for a couple months and the total difference was about the cost of the repair. With all of the people abusing insurance claims, you shouldn't have to suffer.

Had to be kryptonite. Don't be quick to file an insurance claim until you figure the long term damage to your payments based on age, previous claims, etc.

Read # 15 reply, if it is cracked in the upper ( Not lower ) oil pan area, it is a quick fix that DOESNT require drastic measures if u decide to repair it.

Yes.. I may be "lucky" and it may only be a cracked upper oil pan.. I hope that's all it is. I'm concerned that the shock from the impact may have damaged the engine, although maybe not enough to make it not run. It's this "in between", subtle damage that concerns me. I hope to have more info tomorrow after the mechanic looks closer at it.

Believe it or not, your Auto insurance will cover that under collision.Get an accident report from the police.

Ok.. I got the car back today, it was just the upper and lower oil pan, and the swaybar that were destroyed. Replaced those, plus gaskets, and it's up and running again! I'm running on the stock swaybar until the replacement hotchkis comes in.
