I did a search but couldn't find anything about this. First off my car has almost 8,000 miles and no mods. This problem has been around since the car was new.

OK, here it is. Often when I get out of the car after driving I smell the strong odor of what smells like gasoline. I doesn't corelate to filling the tank. I very seldom fill the tank. Also, when I accelerate hard I can smell gas. Even when driving on the highway. The problem seems to be worse when I have the VDC off, but I could be wrong about that.

Does anyone else ever really smell what seems to be gas burning while driving? Is the car running overly rich or what?

 

I had a similar problem with a 95 300zx. I took it in the dealer and they found a loose fuel line(not sure, it's been a while) under the hood. The clamp wasn't tight I guess. It took them two minutes to fix the clamp and no charge.
