Thumbs down fuel door / gas cap cover

i have a serious issue here. the frigg'n gas cap lid won't OPEN!!!! i push the button on interior to release the gas cap lid and NOTHING HAPPENS...i can hear the electrical click but it's like the door is stuck...i cannot even put gas in my damn car now...that's pitiful. it's a 2004 350Z.
anyone have any solution for this? obviously i cannot drive the car to the dealership because there isn't enough GAS to get there!

Have you chacked for a TSB?
http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/.../NTB04-059.htm

Mine does the same, after pressing the button I use my key to flip it open.

not sure what a tsb is but i checked out that link and yes i do hear a clicking noise. what's strange is that it just opened a while ago.....i didn't do anything special, just clicked it more and a few pulls/pushes on the lid; that's it. the link you sent makes it sound like there are replacement parts for this. is that right?

thanks!

A "TSB" is a technical service bulletin that goes out when there is a consistent problem, but not enough to warrant a recall.

http://www.nissanhelp.com/Models/200...escription.htm

Here is a link to the 2004 area. Click on the bulletin tab. I had the fuel filling TSB done twice and each time I took a printout of the TSB from this website.

What about just putting a spongee piece of rubber "in there" to act as a "spring"?

The spring mechanism needs to be replaced. It's in the TSB.
+1 on having someone stick their fingernail in there to pull the door open while you press the button. I lucked out, my alarm remote's aux button is programmed to open the gas door. I can do it myself.

I have the same problem, even though i took it to nissan about 3 times so far. They tell me it's fixed but around a month later same problem. Now, i just used sticking my credit card in the corner and it usually pops the door.

If I'm not mistaken, only recalls do not require warranties.

Yep same problem and I've had it "fixed" already. Have to push the button several times to get it open.

Same here, just tap the button three times before you hop out of the car. Haven't had an issue...
