Default Service engine light on, need help finding part

hey so the other day my service engine light came on and i checked it out on the obd scanner and it came up with a couple codes, one being an evap leak and the other being p0550, the power steering pressure sensor. i reset it to see which ones would come back and only the power steering one did, and i went to the stealership and the idiot behind the counter had no idea what i was talkin about and said hes never ordered one before, and gave me a price of 120 for a really useless sensor that im sure costs em a few bucks to make. this problem seems really rare and i figured i would take it here to see if anyone has seen anything like this, or better yet knows or has a hookup with factory parts like this sensor im looking for, any help would be really appreciated. and dont bash on that whole paragraph being like one sentence, i dont take pride in my online grammar

Dood, that whole paragraph is like one big sentence. You should take pride in your online grammer.

You gotta love a post like this. He knows for a fact that the $120 part cost only a few dollars to make.

Do you even know what the purpose of the PS sensor is for?

Your best bet is to try one of the online dealership like Performance, they discount OEM parts so you might get it for $100 instead of $120. Or, go to a junkyard and find the part there.

Then I see little reason for me to take time and post a definitive answer.

I know the failure of this sensor hasn't really had an effect on my car at all, including my power steering, so I called it useless on an educated guess. I couldn't really find it online anywhere. I'll look around some more, and i guess I'll try the junkyard also.

FYI - the PS sensor is used to adjust throttle when the steering wheel is turned. The throttle is increased to compensate for the additional load of the PS pump.

are you sure thats the power steering PRESSURE sensor? Wouldn't it be pretty noticeable if a major power steering sensor like that failed? My thought was the sensor was another smaller more insignificant part of the power steering unit.
