Are there any ramps that i can put in my garage that i can drive my whole car up onto i would like to get these to keep the car level for oil changes.

 

Rhino Ramps. You can get them at Walmart.

 

Or 4 jackstands and a decent hydraulic jack...especially if you decide to drop the car and/or put skirts/lip on it.

 

No. The 350Z weighs too much.

Edit: How heavy IS your Z davidv? My jack stands/jack are rated for 3 tons.

 

I have ramps the I use for the front of the car for an oil change:



You would have to buy another set, jack up the rear and slide them under. The clearance on our cars is too low for us to drive up on all four at the same time.

The other thing you can do is custom build a drive-on from two sets of ramps.
Or, Stack some 2x6 Lumber at the right length maybe and drive along that then hitting the front ramp.

That might be a bit tricky and I can't really see the need. But, it could work.

Generally, If I want to get all four off the ground; I back on to my ramps and then jack up the front of the car and put it on jack stands. Safer that way, because you can use the e-brake on the rears vs driving on the ramp with the fronts and jacking up the rears.

 

Normal ramps won't work with any Z that has some sort of lowered stance or front bodykit. The Takata ramps work ok if you just need to be able to get a jack underneath.

 

i was gonig to say, if your going to use ramps you will have to jack the car up and then slide them under. basically the same thing as doing jack stands, except under the tires instead of under the frame. Cars front bumper will not clear driving up on them... nothing is easy when it comes to working on this car

 

I built my own ramps out of wood. Cost me about 20 bucks. Fits my lowered Z with lip kit.

LOL. Just kidding. Of course there are ramps for the 350Z. Hell there are ramps suitable for tractor trailer cabs.

 

I built my own ramps too, but it was just so I could get my jack under the car since it's lowered

$10 worth of ply-wood and nails...

since then, someone stole my jack and I threw out the ramps. I have been taking my Z to performance nissan ever since, because my new garage is not level enough to lift my car.

 

so its cool to do oil chnge with just the fronts up?? I heard you dont get full drainage that way

 

You will get full drainage because it is not tilted enough to make a difference.

If you change your transmission or differential oil, your car needs to be level however.

 

When draining your oil, with the front lifted will actually contribute to the drainage. But you are correct when you state you never get it "all" out. If you notice once your done draining the majority of your oil, the little drip that slows down but is still present? It would drip like that over night and still be dripping in the morning. That is the portion of the oil your referring to.

I drive the front up on ramps. Slip a jack under the passenger side, since this is where the drain plug is. Raise that end, pull the passengerside ramp out, and put a jack stand under there. After I drain the oil, I pull the jack stand out and lower the jack. Since the driver's side is up on the ramp, when you lower the jack the passenger side will dip more because you removed the ramp. This forces all the oil in the pan to flow towards the drain plug. Voila! You've just drained the oil pan dry!

 

Mine came with ramp extensions. Whole package $19.95 a few years back. I really like them. Heavy Metal etc....

Drive right on up .. and I have a lip. If you are lowered ... You will have a problem I only clear by 1/2".

The other thing you can do is:

Drive on 2x6 by 3ft long to get clearance and once on the ramp take away the 2x6.

 

This is the cheapest too probably. Good job !!!

 

BTW - Made a mod to the Wind Deflector that allow you to only take out half of the screws during an oil change. Actually, only 5 of the 14 screw now. I guess you can undo the 7 of them and let the thing drop. But on ramps it makes it tough to change the oil and this mod makes it a lot easier to get to everything. This was important to me for two reasons:

One - Time savings
Two - My lip uses the front screws and I didn't want to pull it off each time only to reinstall it when I was through.

I know some people can squeeze their hand up that little hole to pull the plug and oil goes all over the wind deflector.... but the filter replacement is really messing without dropping this wind deflector. Just not how I do things.
