haven't driven (or started) my G35 in 6 months.. suggestions for maintenance?
hi all,
I spend a lot of my time overseas, and my poor G35 sedan has sat in the garage for over 6 months. Hasn't been driven, or even started.
I was in the States in March and when I tried starting the car the battery was completely dead, wouldn't even crank. Nevertheless, I didn't have time to go get another battery or jump it, so I left it.
-- Anyone have any suggestions for how to keep the car running well? I know I need a new battery. I left the car with very little fuel (refuel light on) because I was told fuel "goes bad like milk" over time. I'm wary of vapor expansion, but I'm not too knowledgeable about this. The car has fresh oil in it, so I'm thinking an oil change isn't necessary.
I plan on putting the car through some sort of "break-in" procedure like I would a new car. The car has 58xxx miles on it.

Get yourself a $9 trickle charger from Harbor Freight if you access to an AC outlet. Otherwise go with a solar trickle charger. You can find the ones from the VW New Beetle on sale on E-Bay.
You should not have "left" the battery -----Either take it out altogether and trickle charge it or at least keep it disconnected.
Think about it.......Whats going to go bad fastest, a gallon of fuel or 20 gallons ? One gallon is in an envourment with 19 gallons of Air, wait long enough and it will turn to varnish.
Fill it up and add some stabilizer
Be great if you could have someone start it and run it to operating temp every month
If the oil is fresh and circulated, then no probs. If the oil is old, and the car sits.....Bad. Old oil is acidy and no sense subjecting your internals to it
