TIP-TRONIC auto downshift from "2nd" to "1st" = rugged.
For some reason when i downshift to second in tip tronic slowly coming to a stop at a light...... when it auto downshifts to 1st... it makes a "clunk" noise on the gear.... like it changes to early or something.... but if i leave it in 3rd gear (in tip tronic) then it just rolls slowly and skips "2nd" gear and just goes to "1st" gear smoothly.... for some reason 2nd to 1st gear on tip tronic auto downshifting is ruff.. and makes a shi**y noise.... neone else notice this? what may be causing it..
Full Auto shifts - up & down - smooth as glass.
Tip-Tronic up shifts excellent.
Tip-Tronic down shifts to 1st gear 'thunk' occasionally if I don't come to a FULL stop. More like a forced shift. No other unusual noises.
Mileage - 3900.
VIN - #4717

I don't have a pull, but I know what your are talking about when "manually" downshifting, if you are in 2nd it will automatically hit 1st with quite a bit of emphasis. But if you let it downshift automatically from 3rd or 4th it goes to 1st nicely. ??? Don't know why that is. I just down to 3rd now and let it do the rest unless I'm coming into a turn fast or something that requires going into 2nd manually....but not coming to a stop.
