Default Shift **** [manual trans]

Can anyone send me, from the CD, how to remove the shift ****?
I haven't looked in great detail, but I'd prefer to not damage it before I asked. I can't tell if it unscrews or not. Every car I've owned had the shift **** unscrew.

I actually dislike the feel and want to replace the OEM **** with one that has a smoother finish. The ridge between the shift pattern insert and the **** body sits at just the right angle to become uncomfortable in my palm.

Even after all these years, nothing feels better than a Hurst ball. I wonder if it would fit? The shifter in my Mazda Protege commuter car is more comfortable.

Thank you all in advance.

According to manual it is same as before....

Should be able to uncscrew it off. There are no retaining screws to keep the shift **** from turning.

I got mine to break free from just playing with it while sitting at redlights (umm, that sounded bad). It was initially tight, but eventually broke free.

It you can't break it free, though, you can put a towel around it to protect the finish, then use a tool.

Thank you both.

This one is really screwed on tight. So tight, that I was of a mind to think Nissan did something unusual to the ****'s method of attachment.

I was afraid I'd break something if I man-handled it too much.

They are all tight. It feels like the shifter is actually twisting and bending in your hand before it breaks loose. They might have used Locktite or equivalent on them.
