Highly recomended caution with window fix.....
Well the first time i brought my car in to have the two lines of oil or what have you, on my driver and pasenger window, they never went up the same speed again. This was before the "real fix."
Then i brought it in to get the "real" fix, ya know the glass stopper kit. Anyway, they did it, and when i got home, it was still happening on the passenger side, and i noticed that my driver side, not only had the oil strip, but when i cleaned it, my tints were scratched in the same lines of the oil strip, they must have over tightened it. Also, the driverside window, when i pressed auto up, decided to go up, and then come half way down (this only happened 3 times, and never again).
So i brought it back to the dealer, and they looked at it again. They seemed to fix the oil problem, but now ive got scratches on my tints. They said theyre going to call theyre guy to see if he'll do them a favor. We'll see what happens. I have to go back anyway for another part. The windows are going up quick and smooth now, but everytime a hit a bump it sounds like theyre cracking or somthing?
If i was all of you, id leave it the way it is, clean it up everyonce and a while, and its gotta dry up sometime!
Just a word of advice.......... good luck!

Brutal. Sounds like you got the shaft.
I had the drivers side done last Friday, and haven't noticed any probs at all. No rattling, no grease, and no scratches. Mind you, I don't have any tint on the windows yet, but no scratches in the glass as of yet.
Good luck on getting everything fixed.

I said this a while ago.. Almost everyone who brought there car in for the "Grease on the window fix" came home with another, many times more serious problem.. I can live with the grease.. it should be the least of the problems.. The less the dealer sees my car, the better.. Just enjoy the car.. it's fantastic, grease & all..

I have the grease on the insides of both my windows like, it seems, every Z owner has. I am torn between having it "fixed" or just living with it. I feel Nissan should take responsibility and fix this design flaw with my car. But with my luck, like many of you described, I'll experience more serious problems after the "fix." But it just pisses me off that I dish out $30,000 and I have to "live with" this s**t. Someone on a previous thread suggested applying medical tape (has a course, fabric side to it) along the area of the grease and running the window up and down a few times. I tried it. It lessened the grease slick but didn't eliminate it. What car company doesn't catch a problem like this before cars reach the dealership? Quite disappointing, Nissan. Do you have a quality control department?
I've got that window clunk problem also. The driver's side goes up and down no problem, but on some bumps, it goes "klunk!" I'm sure the lifter or something is just loose, looks like I'll have to bring it in. I'm not sure I'm going to get the window fix though.
ya i dont know what that klunk is either! good way of describing it though. everybump, it sounds like it going to brake or somthing. Yeah i'd just clean the windows every week with some glass cleaner, it's got to go away eventually. Its not worth having them mess up the windows. Theyve touched mine so many times, and it never been the same. The originals worked awsome, its just that grease....... And yeah its on the inside...
This isn't a required TSB is it, just an upon request type thing, right? The reason I ask is I have had my car 2 months to this day and I have never had window grease. Last week I got the oil changed at the Nissan dealer, and now I have a window grease streak on my driver's side window. I had zero, zilch, nada, had put my windows up and down a hundred times. I had the windows tinted, and had had the tint about a month. Nothing...until I got my oil changed
Anyone else have them show up after having their car a while?

Mine didn't show up until about 4 weeks after I had the car. I still haven't seen a streak on the passenger side, so when I had the TSB done, I just had the drivers side replaced.
Find a dealer you can trust, and get it done. It's nice not to have to clean it every time you roll the window down.

I have the noise also, and it sounds like glass cracking. THis only happen when the window is roll all the way up.
another problem is when I open the driver side door, the window doesn't lower 1in anymore. it actually does, but the glass doesn't go down. If I push down the glass, then it goes down 1 in. When I close the door, it will go up fine. But it will do it when I open the door again.
I think it's probably the regulator problem? donno. I took my car back to the dealer, but because I have DYNOMAT on the doors, they refused to fix the window oil streak problem, also the auto-lower problem. I have to remove the DYNOMAT first, before they will work on it.
I guess I'll just wait until it's close to 36,000miles then worry about it. It doesn't bother me THAT much yet.

I knew when they came out with the windows design it would be real fragile. Frameless window designs always are. Also, the regulator feature is neat, especially on a car where supposed cost-cutting measures were made on non-essential items like the interior (I dont entirely believe that even though magazines say that). The regulator adds a level of complexity, however, for jobs like taking the thing apart.
Having said that, I really cannot accept a dealer not being able to take one of their cars components apart and put it back exactly as it was.
Yeah, I was one of those who said if their is a TSB, hell, I'm gonna get it fixed. Sure, there are numerous problems that can happen, but its the dealer who has to deal with it,, afterall, its a warranty item for God's sake!
So after they finished it, I had the problem of the windows auto up feature going up and them coming about half way down. I believe that arises from setting the window to high. Sent it back, got a rental (since I had to go back to work), they fixed later in the day.
What they were unable to fix, though, was the window rattle. So one night, I rolled the window down all the way, and put some padded spacers in between the interior door panel and outer door panel so I could look down the crevis with a flashlight to see if anything was loose. Everything looked fine but when I finished,, the sound was gone. Apparently, the window has to set over time maybe, and something I did (maybe putting some expanding pressure on the interior door panel when I looked down the crevis) helped that (I dunno).
Also, the tech showed me the window with the interior door panel off. It is SOLID in the steel frame,, with three tight bolts on. BUT, the interior door panel is only really held tight by a few screws. The rest of the support links are cheap plastic clips that look like they wear out fast. So if there is any window rattling after the job is done, it most likely is from that interior door panel.
Why am I telling you this?,, so people can learn from others experiences and not feel reluctant to get it fixed. Being aware of possible problems experienced by other should make your experience much better than ours. Make sure to tell you tech (and you do it to) to verify EVERYTHING before they give it back to you.. That includes: 1)lock/unlock on both doors 2)windows up/down on both doors. 3)side mirror control, 4)auto up/down on both doors. 5)window rattling or noise. 6)that the regulator provides a tight seal on both windows when door is closed
Good luck. After all this ****, 3 weeks later, I have no rattles, no grease streaks and no window scratches. Maybe wasnt worth it,, but being one of the first always is the most troublesome experience
