Default Stripped Threading

A few weeks back I removed my stock strut bar. While removing the bolts I got a lot of problems from 3 of them. I don't know if they were put in wrong, or if I was removing them incorrectly but the bolts are destroyed and the threading in the socket is completely mangled. I called a few machine shops up about re-threading but nobody wants to touch it. One guy suggested I do it myself and I have no experience with a tap. Any suggestions?

Borrow or buy a Tap & Die kit. Plus new bolts. Check goggle for how to instructions.

Yes...This happens far to often because the pressure is not released from the strut bar. Run a tap through them, install new bolts and adjust tension to specs

you destroyd the bolts b/c you forgot to untension the strut bar first b4 removing it.

you can do it urself, just buy the tap set for the size you want on ebay. its 20-40$ and do it urself

Thanks for all the info. I did release the tension in the strut bar, but obviously not far enough. Ill probably go buy a tap kit and give it a shot this weekend.

Also, I have not done any research on the topic but what is the propper tension the strut bar should be at? Im assuming I need to use a torque wrench for this... ?
