Default My Ghetto Ramps

Last time I changed my oil, I just drove up on two layers worth of 2x4s (car 3.5 inches off the ground), because I wanted to see where good jack points were to get my floor jack under the car. Once I got the car on the 2x4s, I realized I could just about change the oil at that low height (I have long enough arms to reach the back of the shield). It worked, but it was tight getting my oil pan under the drain plug and still be able to break the nut free.

This time, I decided to be a bit better about my ramps, but I was too lazy to go buy real ramps. I had a few pieces of scrap 2x4 laying around from various projects, so I got out my saw and made me some ghetto ramps in about 20 minutes. Not ideal, but they worked just fine for about $3.50 worth of materials.

Probably should have made the top part slightly longer, but I block both back wheels and put the brake on, so I'm not really concerned.

Voila!

To be honest, I have been watching, and hadn't noticed. The car has only 4,800 miles on it, and i had the dealership check the alignment at 1000 miles. They said it was fine, but didn't have the exact specs to give me.

It looks much more like it under the flash than it does when you actually look at the tire. I'll keep an eye on it in the near term.

Cool ramps!

I thought about building some, but K-mart was having a going out of business sale and got some for dirt cheap.
