Default SES light and rough idle

Noticed the Z was ideling a little rough (popping) after the engine was warm. Thought maybe I had some bad gas and didn't worry too much about it. That was a few days ago... It never went away and this morning, the SES light lit up.

Took her straight in to the dealership. But, they can't get to her until Monday and I'll be out of town all week. ugh...

After listening to it, the service manager thought it may be something wrong with the ignition. Anyway, he said that my extended warranty (Thank you previous owner!) should cover whatever it is.

Anyone else have anything like this happen? She's sitting with 23k miles on her and has had no other problems at all. This just came out of the blue.

Your Nissan Factory Warranty is 5 years, 60K miles. Why does he think you need an "extended" warranty to take care of it?

I just pulled my Nissan warranty info and this is what it says:

Date of service: 4/14/04 (she's an '03)

Basic Warranty: 3yrs or 36,000 miles (expired)
Outer Trim Corrosion : 1yr or 12,500 miles (expired)
Adjustments: 1yr or 12,500 miles (expired)
Refrigerant Recharge Only: 1yr or Unlimited miles (expired)
Seatbelts: 10yrs or Unlimited miles
Powertrain: 5yrs or 60,000 miles
Perforation: 5yrs or Unlimited miles
Emission Defects: 3yrs or 36,000 miles (expired)
Emissions Performance: 2yrs or 24,000 miles
Emissions Defects (Fed "O" Items): 8yrs or 80,000 miles
Front Wheel Alignment Warranty Extension: 3yrs or Unlimited mileage. (expired)

The only 5yr warranties I see is the powertrain and perforation. I don't believe they're gonna cover the rough idle problem.

Hence, the extended warranty comes into play.

Your powertrain warranty covers anything wrong with the engine, so if it is an ignition problem it should be covered.
