Yeah i had it happen to me again today. Its the third time in two weeks. The first two times i just kept restarting the car and it cleared. This time it didnt work. I had to take the stock intake pipe off at the gas station, clean the throttle plate (is that what its called?) with carb cleaner for 5 min to get it to open. i pulled the MAF off with the intent of cleaning it, but it looks like a metal wireless card for a laptop. I just put it back on. the VDC & SLIP warning lamps cleared after i shut the car off (after cleaning) and restarted. I called the local Nissan service dept. and the guys said he never heard of that problem. Im taking it in tomorrow morning so i'll let u guys know what they say. My exp with the dealer service dept. tells me that they prob wont know what it is either. Im keeping my fingers crossed fellas....

Good Luck with that man, if your Z's still under warranty there should be no charge.

i have an 03' and the warranty is long gone. I took it to the dealer and they didnt know what it was or caused it. they havent even heard of that problem before. its working ok so far. im not sure if i should try to clean the throttle body myself. Im no mechanic thats for sure. they did mention one thing that might apply to the warning lamp (slip/vdc). they said it might be a safety feature because theres a problem to slow the car down. Im not sure if theyre right, but i hope someone can help me here.

I had something similar as well. Getting ready to merge with traffic on a city street and I began to let out the clutch and press the gas and it ws like the gas pedal did nothing. Idle sat at 1k. If I floored it, it went to about 1.2k. CEL came on and I shut it off and started back up. Still had the CEL but it ran fine. Went to Autozone to get he code pulled. Don't remember the exact code, but it was something to do with Throttle position and pedal coorelation.

Here is the fooked up part. I was due at the dealer 2 days later for rear axle click so I waited. Took it to the dealer and about 1 1/2 hours later they called me to tell me, "Yep, your rear axle clicks. We ordered parts for it." They did not mention anything about the CEL and actually cleared it out. I forgot to ask what they did since the CEL was off I did not have a reminder. Since then it has happened 3 more times. Anyone know if this will be covered under powertrain (Pretty sure I already know the answer ). And any idea what it might be?

ive been asking around and i heard the 350Zs have a problem with the electric motor (servo) that opens the throttle. its not a TSB or a recall. I asked someone if i could replace the motor and leave the throttle body and i guess its the whole enchilada. This should be covered under warranty, but mine ran out a year ago so im screwed. anyone know if theres a good aftermarket throttle body out there? might as well get one thats not made by the mfg. i hear the throttle problem is affecting the 03-06 models. if they dont recognize it as a problem then they havent corrected the problem. so its prob better to get an aftermarket throttle body.

I had this exact same problem a few months ago. The intake manifold was gunked up and stuck in a very limited partially open position - IE: it was not getting enough (if any) air when the gas pedal was pressed down. The first time it happened I got the TCS and check engine lights as you did. They replaced the intake manifold and it has worked 100% since then.

I have had my car for only two weeks now, it is an 06 and it has happened twice to me, both times in the rain. As soon as the rpm's get a little over 4,000 it just kills the power and then seems to go into a limp mode only letting it get to 2.500 rpm's. If i shut it off it goes back to only doing it if it gets up over the 4'000 mark again. Took it to the dealer and they say there were no codes that it tripped they reset the computer and it worked fine until tonight when it rained again. I have an AEM cold air intake and there were some puddles around, at the most is might have splashed some water on the filter, but I can't see it getting wet enough to cause a problem. Has any one else had this problem in the wet?

Yes, this is a somewhat common problem. The filter gets wet and water passes through and gets on the MAF, which freaks the computer out.

You can also get this if you run the engine while pressurized water from a car wash is spraying towards the front of the car near the intake.

The best I can tell you is to check your filter and make sure it's clean- also clean your MAF with maf cleaner. You could have dirt and grime, whatever, being carried with the water sticking to the maf until it dries. Who knows.
