Steering Wheel Rattle

Have an 06 GT. Lately while driving the steering wheel has a rattle seems like behing the hub. When I tap on the wheel from the side I vibrates. Any ideas.

I'm confused. Are you having problems with your steering wheel itself or your wheel/tire?

The steering wheel itself, it seems to be rattling behind the hub while driving. If I bang against the right side of the wheel from right to left you can duplicate the rattle.

My steering wheel was shaking and rattling too, but then I took it to my friend's shop and he told me that my rotors were a little warped so that could be the thing you are having trouble with.

The most common vibration problems come from bad tires or warped rotors. Ask yourself does the vibration happen only when you brake? At certain speeds only?

If you bang against the steering wheel while standing still I can hear the same rattle as when moving so that would eliminate the tires & rotors. Something is loose in the steering wheel itself. But what??

I have a similar problem. I hear rattling noise from the steering column, but I don't know why. It doesn't happen all the time. It comes and goes. Weird...
