15K mile service and Redline fluids.
Had the 15K performed yesterday as well as the diff and trans fluids changed. Tranny fluid was exceptionally clean and still had a lot of translucence to it. I do a LOT of high-rev driving, so even still it was in very good shape. I've been reading of "black" tranny fluid and saw nothing similar. The diff fluid was darker, a dark chocolate color, but still had a nice concistency. No chunks or sludge.
For replacement fluids I went with the recommended Redline GL-4 MT-90 and MT-L 50/50 mix, two quarts of each with a fraction left over. For the diff I went with the GL-5 75w90 gear oil. 2 quarts.
Any questions?

*raises hand* I have a question!
I've been reading about this Redline transmission fuid all over this forum and I was wondering if it was the factory fluid or aftermarket. From what I've read, it sounds definately aftermarket and if so, can you tell me what the benefit is. The reason I ask is that I just reached the breakin point of 1200 miles and I've noticed a very annoying aspect of 2nd gear. It seems to fight going into place even when I have the clutch peddle all the way depressed. I believe some folks have mentioned that Redline had solved their transmission problems, or least helped them. Any info you can offer is appreciated!

Redline fluid is an aftermarket high performance synthetic fluid. They make all kinds of products for your car. Check out their website. They are well known in the racing and performance community.
I have been using redline in my tranny and diff on every car I own for the last 10 years. In each case the tranny shifted smoother especially when cold. In addition you will also get slightly better gas mileage and longer life.
The redline fluids are a pure synthetic oil which has much better viscosity stability over a wider range of temperature then conventional oils (dino oil). Also, Redline adds some custom additives to enhance certain properties of the oil to improve oil clinging to the gears, make shifting easier, and avoid high temp breakdown.
All in all a very good insurance for your tranny and differential for low $$$ investment.

I'm fairly handy around the garage with basic oil changes and stuff like that, but I've never messed with a manual before. If I supply the fluid, will the dealer put it in for me? Is it difficult to do yourself? Obviously, if I decide to do it, I will do more research but I just wanted to know if I'd be wasting my time.
Thanks!

I had my dealer install Redline fluids in the tranny and differential. They billed me 1/2 hour labor for each... about $90 total. That seems to be the going rate for dealer service of this nature. Make sure your dealer has a hand pump to get the oil from the bottle into the tranny... there's no room to upend the bottle into the filler hole - you need to pump it in via a flexible tube.

Hey Droid,
For the 15k service, did you go to a dealer here in the Dallas area? Did they charge you extra for putting Redline in?
