Default GRINDING on 3rd gear!

Does anyone here have the same problem as i do, my third gear is grinding almost every time i shift. I recently started to do that. I have 10,200 miles on it! I been shifting from 2nd to 4th cause i am afraid i would do more damage to it before i take it to the dealer on tuesday. But does any else here have the same problem?

this thread has been discussed more than the miles on ur car. do a search for it, there are hundreds of ppl with the same problem. in short, go to the dealer - reproduce the grinding, and they will take apart the tranny.... some say it is the synchros while others say its the clevis pin's length.. mine started immediately after 2300 miles or so. it only happens on cold starts in the morning. i can partially solve it by double clutching and slowly moving the gear into place....... after i warm up the car and the tranny it stops grinding.

I had the same problem on my 6-speed and replace the tranny fluid with redline. Went away and no more cold shifting.

Awaiting a new tranny as well. It is on VOR status, I may not even have it for another two weeks.

Been waiting for my new tranny for a month now. It is due to arrive on 15th of june. Talked to NNA and my lawyer about it. Basically if I take my car and leave it at the shop for 30+ days I'll have an excellent case for lemon law suit, only problem is I leased so not sure how to approach this.

I'm on this webwsite because I'm thinking about buying one of these cars. MT only. But all the complaints about problems has me concerned. It sounds like Nissan is fixing the cars but are they just putting in the same parts that failed prematurely? Is there anyone who had a trans replaced only to have the same problem again? If there is a redesigned transmission does anyone know when (vin #) it was introduced so its possible to tell whether a given car has the old or new trans?

I am having the same problem again. They already replace the tranny once. Now at 10300 and i am having the same problem again. I going to take it back to the dealer and see what they say. Does anybody know if this qualify as a lemon? Or do you have to have the same problem 3 time? Please if anybody know PM me. Early thanks!

Well I went to the local dealer last night to see what's available and to ask questions about the issues raised on this board. I spoke to both sales and the service manager. I asked about transmission problems. Both looked at me like I had two heads. Both swore up and down they have never seen a transmission problem with a 350Z. This is a big dealer and they claim to sell a lot of Z's.

Did any of you have difficulty downshifting into 3rd gear when your tranny was hot? It seems that I have a different problem, just with the same gear.

My car feel ckuncky trying to get into 3rd when hot and somtime it just grind like crazy. I just talk to the dealer, they want to send their engineer to look at it. I'll let you know what happen.
