Default My Z Revs to 9k

It really doesnt but please help me...

I was doing some spirited driving and I was in 4th at approx. 110...I then just went to put it in 5th and....yup you guessed it I popped it in 3rd..

It was only there for a half sec but I know that is all it would take...Rpms shot all the way..I quickly popped it out of 3rd...

I have never done this..and always have driven manuals...I feel like such a DOUCHE...heres my question:

What can I do to check or listen to see if I have done any damage..I drove it home and everything was fine..I even ran through 2nd and 3rd to redline to see if I noticed anything and it seemed the same as it ever was..

Any things besides taking the motor apart and looking at the heads..or am I just being too nervous/precautious and because it drove fine home everything is ok ...

any help is GREATLY appreciated...I feel like such a LLOYD...

Thanks..sorry for the long post..just really pissed at myself.

if you drove home and it was fine you should be ok just listen for any weird noise and smoke out of the exhaust for the next day or so.

when it happened was there smoke? if you think you have headlift it is usally white and very sweet smelling and as far as the noise you know what your car sounded like before so any rattling or banging sound, trust you wound know plus drive it and see if its proforming different

if damage was done, which i doubt if you do regular oil changes. Listen for a rod knock, or smoke upon starting your car up. I doubt it did anything permenant, but you never know. Only think you can do now is not do it again.

Listen for ticking on the head area for a bent valve. Also listen when you start the car, if your hear something chatter/vibrating the dying down, only noticeable when you bring the RPM ups while listening for a spun bearing.

I take it to 7000-8000rpm on track all the time. It's perfectly fine, our engine can take it.

Most likely for a short period of time like you expereinced, the over revving did little damage if any.

short is an understatement...a half second...so I hope it did 0 damage.

I was at prolly approx 110 so...maybe it hit 8.5 to 9....then I backed out for obvious reasons...
